Another "What's that noise" thread... sorry,

Featured Replies

I was driving down and round a tight multi story car park.

As I got the the bottom of each ramp I was going full lock right and breaking a little (car was in 1st so engine was taking away most the speed)..

As I came of the ramp on to the flat I got a strange mooing humming rubbing sound, once I was flat again it'd go but return coming of the next ramp down.

My car is a standard vRS. Can't replicate the noise on the flat.

Could it be rubbing?? I know what the PAS pump sounds like on full lock and it defiantly wasn't that.

Any Ideas? It seemed to be coming from the front passenger side.. that's the same side I had to rebuild in winter after clonking a kerb.

OK, little update since driving home.

Pulled away at work and managed to get it to make the noise again.. tick over in 1st hard left.. and this time mid lock right as well..

Thing is... once I've driven a little it stops doing it so I wonderd if with all the showers we've been having.. could it be rust on the disc just rubbing until I've broke a bit?

Checked my CV's.. can't see any leaks... could always be the bearing I guess? Would a slightly sick bearing behave once warm?

Try a few hard stops to clean the brakes.

Think it's generally the rear brakes that "moo" so probably worth pulling the handbrake on a couple of clicks just to scrub the discs and pads up.

What you sorry for?

It's not like you asked what tyres were best or even what the "pull" thingy does....
