Induction Kit

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm looking at buying a Induction kit or panel filter.

Now the car is still under warrinty so should i just get a panel fliter?

Just worried that the induction kit would void the warrinty?

anyway the kits i'm looking at are:

Induction:

57i Induction Kits | Car Induction Kits | Demon Tweeks Motorsport, Motorcycle, Car Modifying, Parts and Accessories,Sparco, Arai

or

Panel Fliter:

Replacement Air Filters | Car Replacement Elements | Demon Tweeks Motorsport, Motorcycle, Car Modifying, Parts and Accessories,Sparco, Arai

Anyway your opinions please people! :)

They will both void your warranty.

Any excuse can and will be used.

If your after noise and slight power loss get the CAI (alledgedly)

If you want a touch more power (1bhp maybe) get the panel filter (alledgedly)

HTH

warranty? is it a mk2 octy? or from a mk1 from used dealer with a 6 month?

i stuck a induction kit on mine after about 1000miles from new,

i lad who shouldnt, said " if the part you put on doesnt actually cause the fault then skoda would never know, all skoda see is a warranty form2

but as fatty said, if they are going to be ****weeds then they will be ****weeds. i got a jabba induction and used to have a powertec, had no probs just good noises lol

id always recomend them but then again id never puch them on folk,

id say if you got doubts :rotz: then def have a think

goodluck

I would avoid the 57i kit, it's not boxed in so you are drawing in cold from the feed but also hot air from the engine bay.

You can get the green panel filters for a little less. I think it is qustionable weather a CAI would give more performance as these tend to suffer heat soak(especially when ticking over when stopped) as the CAI pipe gets hot from the engine. As Martin stated avoid the direct cone bolt on jobs like the K&N. You really need to either get an enclosed CAI or one that runs the cone filter behind the bumper.

However the noise of the CAI is addictive.

For stealth and (apparently) more torque rather than BHP the panel is the better option. I have a green panel(when I am not swapping it back to the addictive ABD CAI sound) I have de finned my airbox and routed an extra Cold air pipe to the bumper and this works well.

I've had a K&N panel in mine since I've had it.

Wash it once a year, and I have no complaints. Slightly more induction noise so you can just hear the Forge DV operating when the radios off!

I can't confirm any power gains, but I trust K&N to make a good filter.

I'd get a Carbonio for the noise... if I could afford one! :)

Or a green panel filter if you want to keep it looking OEM.

Been thinking about de finning my airbox too, would you say it was worth it though?

How have you routed the extra pipe if you dont mind me asking thanks.

I would say it was worth it. When I tested it before and after I felt that it made a slight improvement on performance . This is always questionable. I also drilled a few holes at the back of the airbox, away from the heat. It has increased the induction noise. I removed the plastic intake pipe that fits to the inner wing to allow for a large pipe to be inserted into the airbox. This then travels down the side on the inner wing past the battery and down to the front bumper and is fixed in place by the bumper grill insert hole with a few cable ties. I do feel this gives better torque and more urgency lower down the engine revs than the CAI. My DV is heard more with the airbox being definned also.. When weather improves I will take some pics. Not everyones cup of tea but I like it.

 thanks mate, top stuff! think i will be de finning my airbox the weekend now.:D How many holes and what size did you put in your airbox? you sure no hot air will get in? Yeah pic's would be good !!

Here is a few pics of the de finned and smoothed airbox top section pic 1 and 3 and the bottom section showing the holes drilled to the back end of it.
