My video from Hullavington on 5th June 2009

Background:

Standard power car (130hp). Jabbasport rear anti roll bar, 312mm brake upgrade, cupra rear wishbone bushes, PD160 intake, cage mod. Running goodyear eagle f1s on the front (at about 33psi for this - let down every time I came off track as they went up due to temp. increases). This was my first time on track apart from a small session at Castle Combe in April. This was recorded after about 2 hours of practice on this circuit :).

Removed everything from the boot, rear seats (completely) and the spare wheel & tool kit - all of which was placed in my mates car :) This made for a nice light rear end which meant I got a nice twitchy back end of the car especially with the anti roll bar :D I counter-acted all of the weight loss by carrying a passenger at all times but it was helpful to have someone to point out where I could improve my driving

Pt I:

Pt II:

nice and smooth Yegnold! I take it it was'nt too much of a ball ache to remove the seats if you did it trackside?

Seats came out easy, not sure if I needed to or not but the tricky bit was removing the seat belt bit in the middle, needed a couple of tools to do that. Maximum of 5 mins out, 5 mins in.. :)

It looks a lot slower than it felt on the video - I thought I was getting the fabia around as quickly as most people would but on the video it looks very slow :(

Always looks slower on video, but it looked like a smooth drive

I'm hoping for a nice cold day on 31st July to be honest as I'm dreading heat soak.. the car wasn't performing great power wise here as it was a quite hot / muggy day and I'm only running a standard SMIC :)

Track seems shorter than i was expecting but the lack of 100+ mph stops should help tyres and brakes unlike the stop into Quarry at Combe

Looking forward to this even more now!

You might be touching 100mph with 177hp down the first long straight ;)

well there's only one way to find out :D

and I'm pretty sure the 312's will provide better stopping than the wafer thin 288 pads i was on at Combe!

and of course should you feel the need you could always have a test drive for yourself (in return for a similar swap into the Beemer!) ;)

:D It's nice of yo to offer but I wouldn't be happy driving around anyone else's car really - in the unlikely event of something happening to the car I would feel so awful :)

You're such a gent - I however i would love the opportunity to give the BM a thrashing! :P

I see you are getting the hang of these trackdays now, great. Any "This is fun" comments from you or were you concentrating?

What I like about this track layout is there are only a few corners to remember unlike Brands Hatch GP cct. where I couldn't remember where I was until I went past the pits.

It was much more fun than the Castle Combe day actually! :D But I was quiet because I was concentrating. I was also running air con all the time as I was so hot! Haha.. a luxury other drivers didn't have. I turned it off on one lap and it does actually make very little (if any) difference at all to speeds reached :).

Hoping you're gonna come along to the fast approaching one by the way ;)

Air. Con.!!!!! on a track day. Wimp.

:D Was comfortable though ;)

Air con??? You should be driving with the heater on and windows closed to take the temperature out of the engine .

Seriously I wouldn't worry about heat soak once your up to speed, airflow should have this licked and I would have thought 100+ should be within reach on the first straight down to the hairpin. I was topping 125 in my Octy when I was there a couple of years ago. Would love to attend again, but I've kinda retired my car from track days because once you start running silly power it gets expensive on tyres and brakes....

:bump:

Videos above in post #1 for those who want to see Hullavington circuit before committing to the 31/07/09 day (see my sig for link)
