TDi Cupra Garrett

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if there is any differances in the vRS and Cupra TDi Garrett. If I was to buy this turbo it would be send away to someone for a hybrid conversion. Would this be a better one for it than the standard/PD150 turbo?? IE will fitting a hybrid Cupra Garrett make much differance to a differant Hybrid?

Cheers for any help/pointers guys.;)

pretty damn sure the PD150 and PD160 have the same turbo but the exhaust housing is orientated different (hence different part numbers). both are bigger than thePD130 turbo

The PD 150 will be the one for hybriding, don't bother about the Fabia one, it is a weak KKK turbo.

Out of interest what do you base that statement on?

I'm no expert here by any stretch of the imigination- but the kkk was only fitted for a a while at the start then it was swapped to a garret

Hence why when people as ahout hybrids etc the question asked is do you have a kkk or garret turbo for hybriding

fail.

Every ASZ and BLT fitted to a Fabia bound for these shores (and probably all others) was fitted with a KKK as far as I know.

my KKK turbo was about half the size of the PD150 one also.........and so iv heard the KKK ones are like cheese, my current situation backs that up...

So are the Garretts, I have changed plenty of both and for the same reasons.

A large amount of failures are down to people driving around with low or poor quality oil. Of course the KKKs will appear to be made of cheese as all the Fabia turbos are KKKs. However the Octavia/Golf 130 uses a Garrett and ive changed more of them.

Plenty of high milage fabia with none blown turbo. Its how you look after them.

i would agree,my fabia ran for over 10k after i told jabba to map it with no regard for lifespan i never booted it from cold, allways let it cool after a hard run and changed the oil every 5k looked after it can last, its just not as big as the garret

av looked into hybrid'ing my KKK and for the price it will cost me it will get almost the same power gains a hybrid PD150.

speak to philmonk on here he's had it done and it cost him a fraction of the price that a PD150 costs with not a kick in the **** off the power gains! no brainer if you ask me
