Anyone planning on cleaning their car for Gaydon on the Saturday?

Featured Replies

I seriously wouldn't

Weather for saturday is generally shocking over the whole country, but thankfully for us lot looks to be clearing away to the east overnight leaving a dry Gaydon on the sunday. I'm just going to be giving mine a quick clean & a coat of collinite this afternoon or sometime tomorrow, whilst the weather is real nice.

If anyone is planning on spending any time on their car, I would either do it in the next 2 days, or use a garage or huge gazebo :D

I'm hoping to start either tonight or tomorrow, but not sure what it is going to look like after 320 miles, hope it's going to be dry on the way down on saturday because I'm hoping just to use detailer spray on sunday to wipe off any light coat of muck.

Yeah - roads will be wet all the way there, so am bringing a bucket, 25 litres of water in a big tub, and will just wash it somewhere near Gaydon. :) I'll only dry it if the weather is dry though. :)

Its only rain you big gay

i wont be washing mine ;)

Oh Poo! Will have to do it tomorrow then... unless I kill two birds with one stone and get the gazebo out to fix it and then clean under there..... nah! Will do it tomorrow.

Just looked on Met Office and yep... you're right!

Phil

Looks like I might be running it through a jet wash on the way on Sunday then!

Please don't rain!

Tüpisch Englishe wetter!!

You can gurantee that it will absolutely tip it down for us all on the way!

Not too fussed myself... will give it a clean tomorrow then whatvere state it's in on sunday is how it stays!

I'm driving to Hull tomorrow eve too so it will probably be blathered in road rubbish by Sunday but hey-ho!

Hoping to give mine a good wash and coat of Gold Class then AG EGP on friday evening , them i dunno about Sunday , i dont want to bring a bucket and I guess theres no taps nearby anyways , will there be anywhere selling Megs Quick detail spray down there as I cant find it in my local Halfords , I will be bringing my Wax and Glass/plastic polishes plus tyre gel though.... maybe overkill on a base Fabia with wheeltrims tho!

It's all part of the fun really isn't it. My 230 or so mile trip will mean that the car won't be pristine when it gets there and I'm not carting buckets or water or anything like that. I'll be using a car wash somewhere local for once. I did see on Fifth Gear that a car wash was more kind to the paint than a jet wash or some £4 a go oik with a sponge which he's dropped on the gravel three times before applying it to the paintwork....and then scratching it.

I was thinking about it, but may not bother as its going to take ages to sort the interior out as its in a bit of a state at the mo.

Not while it's still persisting down outside !

ihavent washed mine in two weeks and you can see it, so i might quickly wash it saturday in the rain.

In short, No. HTH

Mine will get washed today or Saturday ....if it gets dirty on the way, so be it !! thats the way it will stay

Slapped another layer of wax on the boot & roof yesterday. Not doing any more now. It's going to get caked up with crap on the journey so will just be looking for somewhere to rinse it down near Gaydon.

Please don't rain!

get the mircofibers ready to dry up after :)

anyone thinking of using a jetwash then look at the tesco's one as they have a water purifer rinse option on them, not sure if its much cop.

I hope everything will be according to forecast :)

The rain is coming into the South West now, so I think the opportunity to do much to my car is now nil until Gaydon. C'est la vie. Got a fuzzy shot of the beading though, as it started spitting. Wax on the roof doing it's thing.

Just to let people know, when you come off the M40 and drop into Gaydon, at the roundabout where you turn right to the Heritage Centre, you will see an Esso garage on the right, it has a Jetwash there..............just in case people are interested..............:o

You might think that im crazy :P ... i`ve just finished cleaning my car inside and ... what i did ... all 4 wheels were taken off and cleaned even from inside :P ... that was my first time :P so far i think that last one :P - tomorrow in a morning im gonna wash my Octy and wax it ;]
