Octavia wing mirror indicators failed

Featured Replies

The LED indicator bulbs on my Mk 2 Octavia have failed on the passender side mirror. There is a 'flashing power supply' coming in but it seems like the LED's have gone. Local dealer say you can only order a complete mirror assembly which I think is about £140!!

I have taken the small printed circuit/LEDs out and thought I would be able to replace with some LED's from Maplins or even wire in a standard 12v bulb. Anybody any experience of this blinkin problem?? If not I'm going to try it and will let you know.

Personally, I'd have a go at repairing the circuit board if this is at fault. LED's don't often go, but it depends on how they are connected in the circuit.

What do you mean by the flashing PS light ? Have you checked that the unit receiving power ok ?

You dont have to buy the whole mirror, I know as I smashed my indicator on a wall. You can order the indicator part on its own, and costs about £20, and takes about 10 mins to change. The indicator assembly is held on by 2 screws which you access by removing the mirror glass and then the outer shell of the mirror which is simply clipped to the mirror base.

Looking at etka, the indicator is actually a standard bulb (W5W-12V5W)
