Front wheel hub moved?

Featured Replies

Has anybody come across this before , my traction control and abs light came on , I went to the specialist who told me it was the nsf wheel speed sensor, later on that day the brake disk was rubbing on the caliper carrier , my question is what would cause this to happen any body any ideas?

Sounds a bit odd for the disc to rub against the carrier because everything should be retained. If the wheel bearing was 'floating' in & out of the housing that would allow the disc to move in & out with the hub, but I would think this is highly unlikely, unless the circlips are missing. From experience the bearings are tight in the housing anyway.

Best to remove the wheel and investigate.

I did fit new disks , and guess what it scored that one aswell, so the car wont be moving until it goes into the specialist , could the circlip in the CV joint have broken?

The CV joint assembly fits inside the hub with spines and the nut secures it. the drive shaft is also splined where it enters the back of the CV joint, but there is a certain amount of movement of the shaft to allow for suspension movement and steering, any problems with the CV joint / shaft shouldn't allow the disc to move.

my guess would be that the wheel bearing has play in it

or you have left something loose when you did the brakes

I agree with ric, sounds like wheel bearing failure
