Featured Replies

Hi All,

Been this today on the news:

British tourists warned over 'damaging' French fuel - Telegraph

Basically the frogs are now saleing 95-E10 petrol, would this work ok for are loved car (petrol ones of course!). I always run mine on 98 ron now but i guess they also do 98-E10 too.

James.

I caught this item on the BBC news this morning, it seems to affect cars made before 2000. The 10% bio fuel can corrode the fuel tank and damage the engine?

Do you remember when top gear raced the BMW diesel using bio diesel and it wrecked the pump seals, I guess this French bio fuel can do the same if your car is not designed to use it.

What worries me even more, is that they will be forced to add bio to diesel as well. My fuel filler flap has a sticker that clearly says NO BIO!!

10% bio is already added to diesel and has been for at least 12 months now, so nothing new there.

I used to work in the lab at a company that used to make OEM truck diesel filters.

Whenever we tested seals and plastic parts in bio diesel, you wouldn't believe the ammount of damage that stuff could do. It used to actually dissolve some seal materials on long term soak tests when the control test in normal diesel would have no effect.

I'm worried when they start upping the ammount of bio diesel in the UK supplies as this stuff has the potential to do lots of damage.

I've always wondered what the converted chipshop oil stuff is like.
