New felicia owner: Cannot figure out how to turn off parking lights

Featured Replies

I just bought and fetched my new(ish) felicia LX from 96. It runs beatifully, but when I got home I couldn't figure out how to turn off the parking light. I tried pushing buttons at random, but nothing worked.

There was no manual for the car.

In the end I wound up disengaging the battery.

Any clues?

I think the light is on when the indicator stalk is not at the "home" position

Didn't even think they had a parking light but that sounds about right as my old polo would do this. If you leave the indicator on it will turn the lights on whatever side the indcator is on. Vauxhalls also do this and possibly others.

And if you hear a lights on buzzer everytime you open the door, even when you haven't used the lights....it's beccause the rear fog light switch is in!

I found this out, thought my headlight switch was faulty!!! LOL

Unless you have taken the buzzer out like me! :D

But didn't know that!

Thanks for the swift replies. Just had a go at it again and solved it.

Apparently, yesterday i was pressing buttons at random. Today i was more methodical.

Starting the car, stopping the car, with stalk in different positions and so on.

The solution turned out to be:

- Start car (dimmed lights and parking lights (or is that sidelights? or is it the same?) come on.

- Stop car and remove key, dimmed lights go off, parking lights stay on

- Press big lightbulb button on left hand side TWICE

- parking lights go off.

Not sure why twice. But 10 tests confirmed it.

Where in the World are you Soraz? This sounds like you've either got day running lights or a problem with your fusebox, and knowing where you live would help us figure out which!

People couldnt figure out my headlights :P

Took a few goes for people to work out theres a separate switch for the sidelights and headlights.

I'm from Denmark,. We have to drive with dimmed lights all the time. This would account for the lights coming on automatically, but still leave me pondering why they don't turn off automatically. My Octavia (about same age) does this,

I think I will have to have someone install a proximety fuse for the key if thats possible. Otherwise i'm going to have many many many automative-help-calls for battery power.

Apparently I haven't got a buzzer for lights on. Or someone disconnected it. Where can i check this?

Day running lights, but they seem to have been "done funny" judging by the lack of similar issues from the Norwegian and Swedish owners.

Apparently you are right.

Just today i noticed that the car had turned on the lights on its own. Bit of a Carrie moment.

Noticed a weird sounding noice (clicking like) from the passenger side, so now i'm going with a defectice relay.
