Roof rails - Roomster

Featured Replies

Am considering used Roomster and found a nice suitable example but unfortunately there are no roof rails fitted.

The brochure says £103 and contact your dealer for fitting. They've quote £168 plus VAT just for the fitting as apparently they have to take the roof lining etc out.

Has anyone tried to do this themselves or have any advice on the topic?

Many thanks

I think a few people here had it done a while back. Sounds like a good price. As long as they seal it properly should be no problem. I dont have them myself, plenty of room in the boot for me.

There is a thread with info in it somewhere.

I think the conclusion was it's one hell of a job and needs the roof lining remoced and refitted

Got my dealer to fit them as part of the deal, Don't think they realised how big a job it was :D

I've get this done!

They drill and fix them, takes time beacuse of lining and interieur trims...

During drilling, lots of metal dusts spreading everywhere, you can notice them after rain or humid weather as brown spots, don't panic :)

Hey that's great. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I did do a check for a thread first, honest! I think I'm going so say that I'll only buy the car if they throw them in. I agree the load space is superb (no pun intended) but there are 4 of us, a big black labrador and a wheelchair plus whatever camping/holiday gear we are lugging around, so the flexibility to throw a box on for the bulky light stuff like sleeping bags would be good.

I take it everyone likes the Roomster?

It's a buyers market, if there's enough money in the deal I reckon a dealer would do it. I have them on mine but have not used them in anger yet. For myself, the mrs, and 7 year old twins I always manage to get everything in the boot with careful packing.

Mines a Scout - came with them fitted.

I use them occasionally - I kept the cross bars and bike racks off my Audi when I sold it - fits perfect and I use them if there are four of us taking bikes somewhere - still plenty of space inside too.

Economy suffers at motorway speeds with 4 bikes on top though;)

Damn good reason to get a scout over an SE or 3. They are useful if you never use them....

Only had them put on because i felt the car looked unfinished without them.

Just to say thanks again to everyone who responded. We have now picked up the Roomster having had the dealer fit the rails!
