Pickup gear linkage- a newbie asks..

Featured Replies

Hi all, my 1.6 (W/2000) pickup gear lever has way too much lateral (only) movement. The lever itself is nice & snug, so from looking at the parts diagram I'm guessing lower plastic bush(es) #24 & 'O' ring / seals #25 are worn, allowing too much side-to-side play in the 'sardine-tin-on-a-stick' jobby.

Is it a pretty straightforward job to replace these?

Thanks & best regards, CVM

If it is the earlier revision of the gear linkage then you replace the little rounded box with rubber seals top and bottom.

I'm guessing it is this as you described it as a 'sardine-tin-on-a-stick'.

It cost me £25 from the dealers and just consists of one bolt to remove/refit it.
