Website Design Software

Featured Replies

I need to update our company website.

Times are hard, so much as I appreciate it should be done by someone who knows what they are doing, for now at least its going to be me that does it.

I need a recommendation for some website design software please.

I'm reasonably fluent in MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel etc and am able to manipulate pics and graphics. I won't be making a career of this - just something I can spend a few days on and then occasional updates - so nothing too complicated.

Don't need any form of e-commerce or forms.

I want my own layout with company logo and colour scheme etc so not too bothered about customised design templates (although content templates may be useful).

I've got MS Publisher 2003 but is MS Frontpage any easier / better. Or something else - ideally freeware/shareware - although I don't mind searching the net for an "evaluation" copy.

Your recommendations please

Use what the pros use, Adobe Fireworks and Dreamweaver :)

Dreamweaver is the one to go for , and notepad to do some of the work as well.

Avoid the MS packages as they produce horrendously bloated HTML that isn't exactly standards compliant and will be a bitch to edit afterwards.

(As above - Dreamweaver) -

If you do need a hand. Please do just give me a PM. :D

Dreamweaver can be a bit overwhelming to a newbie. Maybe have a look about for something simpler to start with.

If you are just updating text then you could use notepad, or notepad++ or another free package.
