I bought a D300...

Featured Replies

I had every intention of just getting a lens, but instead I ordered a lens then bought a D300 body :( lol

I popped the 18-135 from my D80 onto it to take a few snaps in the garden as I couldn't resist! I have ordered the Nikkor 105mm F2.8 VR so hoping to have that soon too.

I ran out of things to photograph so this is my fishtank in the garage!

This is my stickleback...

Can't wait to take it out properly, especially when I get my new lens!

Looking good there Loz.

That's the trouble with nice cameras - there's always the temptation to buy an even better one.

I know :( oh well, will just have to get out more and take some photos :D

It's all Xav's fault anyway!

well impressed loz , wappits coming on as well mate

I refuse to be tempted by new bodies, however sexy they may be :P

Very nice:thumbup:

I'm looking forward to your 105 images, should be excellent on the D300.

Lovely pics, i so want a DSLR

Top stuff, very nice photos. And yes, should be pretty epic with that 105 on it

Where did you buy the 300 from - did you trade your 80 in?

Steve

Must be nice having a D80 as a 'back-up' camera

  • 2 weeks later...

Still resisting despite Nikon bringing out the 'all new' D300S

I wouldn't get a D300s ;) unless you're dieing to have video

Loz, it's not my fault!

Psssssst. You need some nice fast glass now - can't wait till you get that 105 micro  Expensive and addictive :D

Yup, D300s is a waste of the extra 400 quid. If you want video, get a camcorder?!? SLRs should NOT have a video function, is it just wrong and gimmicky

Xav - I gave in and got the Nikkor 50mm F1.8 to be going on with lol! Jesspos text me the other day.....to tell me they haven't got my 105 yet  yeah, cheers for that! haha!

And yes, it IS your fault! :P:rofl:

Good thing is, now that I have the 300, I am considering taking the 80 away with me, whereas I'd prob have been too paranoid to do it before lol!

To be fair, there could be some excellent uses for dSLRs and video, namely the DoF you get with those fast prime lenses.

Unfortunately, Nikon still haven't got the fundamentals of it. Canon's 5Dmk2 does a much better job, and even Canon crippled the 5D's lens capability with being able to control aperture and stuff, but thankfully, there are Nikon to Canon adaptors so you end up using Nikon-mount lenses anyway

Don't be :chicken: taking your dSLR out and about. I'm carrying my D700 into bars and nightclubs  But then I do have the 85/1.4 on it and turn into a real indetectable candid shooter - no one notices the photos because there's no flash :D

Just about to buy more lenses myself

I shall be taking mine round europe, at the end of the day the body is chicken feed (unless you have a D3) compared to the cost of a couple of lenses :) The D300s was a tongue in cheek comment, if I was going to get a second body I would probably go for a D90 tbh, virtually the same sensor marginally, slower fps and less Af points, admittedly not as robust a body but I would still be reluctant to take the D300 out in the elements despite its extra weather sealing, and nearly 1/2 the price of the D300, ;)

Sometimes, I just don't understand this philosophy.

It's like taking a Renault into battle because you don't want to scratch your tank ;)
