hi first few questions

Featured Replies

I hear of a few remaps for the fabia vRS,whats better jabba or revo?? how much for this to be done? Also has anyone got pics of the vRS engine bay with a cone filter.

Im an owner of a renault 5 gtt and now ive a new job i will hopefully be getting a vrS fabia or Golf, hopefully the vRS tho.

Thanks

Gareth :)

Welcome.

what remaps best? Can't say I've heard any bad comments from the likes of REVO, Jabba or AMD. Its all down to personal taste. Location, price, etc.

Jabba will be cheaper !

as faboka has said all of them are good, it's all down to personal choice. I think there are some reviews on here, also there is a group buy of a Jabba tune.

As for Cone filter I dont think anyone on here has done that yet, but there are a few Seat Ibiza owners that have, which will look pretty much the same.

The above point is not meant to sway your choice. I have not got my car tuned and like you was unsure where to go. It all comes down to the money facter. I pointed out the jabba group buy as it is going on at the moment as would I if it was AMD or REVO. Every tuner has it pro's and con's.

Read up and go with which every you feel best about

Hi Gareth,

There are many debates on this, most get out of hand. The important thing to note is it's your choice not somebody else's.

Clean advice only in this thread chaps...

yea clean and valids points is all i need with proof. They are probably much the same performance wise and since im from n.ireland location may be the issue. If there is a difference in the remaps that someones knows of let me know by pm. As for the cone with cold air feed, like to hear response on that.Hear the turbo purge then .

Where you are may dictate who you go with unless you're prepared to bring the car over here. Jabbasport for example have no distributors. I know Revo is available in NI, not sure about any others.

I don't think a cone filter is recommended as the standard airbox is well up to the job, however have a look at this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=9555 there's a Ibiza TDi with dynatwist fitted, the engine bay is almost identical.

Revo then id say as they are here! hope to get sorted finiancially soon and get one on order, black or silver not sure yet,if silver the handles will be sprayed straight away. Im also one for modding very quickly so dv,cone filter, revo(how much

APR very good for petrol... no diesel product yet but Star Performance do their own with great effect I hear. Check out their forum....:D

Dont forget Tunig Box / Tunit too.. each to their own.

yea thats because of the heat vapour under the bonnet but a nice seperator for cone to be seperated from engine head and cold air feed straight to it would be good

can always try first, what boost does the fabia vRS run after remap and what can the turbo handle?

I seem to remember 1.6 bar when remapped upped only by .3 bar.

u can get dv's for diesals tho, just for the noise, altho they dont work like the petrol as these have vacum on inlet.

thats 4-5psi???

Not to sure what the conversion is sorry, Ross Clark will be able to help you.

1 bar is 16psi i think???or is it 14...too late for me

Just found out 1 bar is 15psi

so 21 psi ??

  • Author

thats a brave bit.now whats the limit :)

1bar = 14.5 psi so 21psi is just under 1.5 bar.

Sorry i was basing my calculation on 1.4 bar

1.6bar is the theoretical maximum for the pd130 turbo (but reliability at this is suspect) any more is just a waste as the flow of the turbo is limiting then. the Ibiza cupra PD160 and golf 150 have different turbos for this reason.

the inlet/exhaust is apparently quite restrictive on the fabia too, as golfs seem to pull a few more bhp than the smaller cars due to bigger airbox and better designed zorst.

at 300lb/ft + the clutch and dual mass flywheel will struggle to cope... ive got 317lb/ft and my clutch is slipping. :o

then if you did get a turbo and a clutch.. the injectors begin to reach maximum duty cycle and the car gets dirtier as the injection period isnt as accurate

think the answer to your question is "how deep are your pockets"

ive got revo and am very happy with it :D

I was interested in a cone filter purley for the noise and the noise only, so any advice etc would be nice ;)

Got a green replacement in my airbox. Can't say I noticed a difference at first but after a couple of hundred miles I noticed the turbo spool more. You could always attack the airbox with a drill :D
