Phaetons 1st fault...

Featured Replies

My Phaeton has developed its first electronic fault....

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US

Control Module Part Number: 070 906 016 B

Component and/or Version: V10 5,0L EDCG000AGMª5726

Software Coding: 0000175

Work Shop Code: WSC 01065

1 Fault Found:

18360 - Turbocharger Control Module 1: Defective

P1952 - 000 - - - Intermittent

Master Turbo stops spinning up (Engine off/on clears it) but its happened a couple of times now.. Can someone tell me what the retail of one of these is? And where it goes on the car....

cheers

Did you phone up Custom Code / JBS last week? I was stood by Mike when he was on the phone to the filter suppliers sourcing one for a 5.0 TDI Phaeton.

Sorry, with regard to your problem, not a clue. Would have thought you'd have much more luck asking on vwvortex or somewhere.

That was me. We failed on the air filters. :(.

The car was at JBS when they found the fault. Thought we'd see how it went, and it did it again tonight. Stuck VAGCOM on myself and same error. Cleared it and gave the car some hammer to see how it is, and its fine. So looks like this electrical gremlin is gonna be an inconvenient pain in the **** until its resolved.

No other fault codes on the car at all though.. The gearbox is the one I fear....

Sounds similar to the N75 on the fabia diesel setup? One of the vacuum controller things.

I'd love a Phaeton but like most people I'm too much of a wuss worrying about what if it went wrong. That and my drive isn't big enough.

What was the cure for that..? I know its more than likely going to be a something and nothing fault, and a right nuisance......

please tell me you've taken out a warranty on it....

could be the VNT on the turbo sticking

I got this one when the VNT mech went on the Fabia's Garrett:

17964 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation

P1556 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I can't seem to find any info on the error above, but it does look like something ancillary to the turbo, from the description.

Steve

Just searched that and a lot of people saying about boost leaks and the like.

Might just be worth giving all the hoses a once over. You know these ham fisted mechanics they could have loosened something last time it was serviced.

I have paid for a main WD cover. :)

Easier said than done. Everything is so rammed into this car.....

Yes I imagine it is with that monster under there!

Glad you got a warranty. You going to get it booked in? Guessing you were just trying to guage the extent of the problem yourself before hand?

As its intermittent, I've got it booked in with JBS to check for boost pipe problems. After that, then I'll see what needs to happen next.

On a side note, does anyone know what the size/make of the Turbos are on the V10 TDi?

Can't find any info them but the part numbers:

Left: 07Z145701P

Right: 07Z145702K

And in case you're curious they are priced at £1200 each!!!

Phil

EDIT:

Its a Garrett GT185- Source:

I'm after a broken V10 Turbo. Does anyone know where I can source one. Its needed for getting the physical dimensions of the compressor housing.

I'm liking the sound of this.

Would your local VW dealer be able to get this info for you perhaps?

Other than that ringing round some scrappers and seing if they have a taureg or phaeton written off but wouldn't count on it.

Phil

EDIT:

It seems the GT 185 was also fitted to quite a few other cars but that must be the turbo itself and the mounting etc will be custom for the V10 lump.

Im needing to go into a dealers anyway. I want a new Satnav CD. They seem to be a vast majority of different systems that went in the Phaeton and I cant seem to pin down what my unit is.

I'd contact VW Customer Services, but they are supposed be less helpful than a half eaten Jelly Baby!

I'd consider giving Turbo Dynamics a call. They're a helpful bunch and should have technical info available for the Garrett range.

Steve

there is meant to be an updated turbo unit that was meant to be fitted un warranty if yours will cover this it may not( check small print) as the turbo's are £1200 each and the engine has to come out to fit them:eek:

good luck mate hope you get it resolved

p.s i told you there a problem car before you got it:P

That would explain why there are different part numbers on Vag-cat and ETKA for the turbos then!

I would get this checked out... sounds like a major job does getting the turbos swapped!

As I've stated above, this is intermittent so probably a boost pipe. If it is major, I do have a higher Waranty with WD so Im not too worried.

The turbo housing questions are for soemthing else.. ;)

Hmmm... I'm liking where this is going....

Engine bay is big, but not that big. Perhaps the boot. Plenty room in there...
