Rear knock diagnosis

Featured Replies

Just a quick check to see if I'm right about this.

When cornering suddenly and very hard (fast switching left to right bend for example), I get a single knock from the rear end.

As I say, it only happens when pushing it, so I'm noticing it more now with the coilovers fitted! Before I only got it when turning fast up hairpins on steep mountain-like roads.

Rear beam bushes I guess? Or maybe rear arch braces fighting body twist?

Can't think of much else as I have no RARB, and the ride height is only 5mm down on standard currently. Everything else is all bolted/fitted up correctly. Also my exhaust is standard.

Thanks in advance ;)

Have you checked the exhaust mounts?

I've had the centre mount welded back on, and the rear mount is fine because I checked it. Guess it could be the exhaust knocking on the beam or something maybe....

How can I check the beam bushes? I looked at them over the weekend and they seemed OK from what little of them I saw. It's kinda hard to see them! Would it be knocking constantly if it was them? Hmmm

I bet it will be your exhaust knocking on the rear beam.

Get a mate to ride in the back passenger side and see if that makes it worse?

If so its on the beam
