vRS fuel economy.

Featured Replies

Hi, I have read much on here about the economy figures on the vRS. Can someone tell me if the computer calculation is accurate. Every car I have previously had with a computer has calculated it at least 10% over the actual measured amount.

Oh also does the vRS have an outside temperture gauge ?

As you can gather I am about to buy one !

:)

As far as I know, the economy figures as calculated by the trip computer are accurate enough to go by.

And yes, it has an outside temperature gauge (in both the climatronic and the trip computer displayed).

Mine overreads by around 8%, if you compare the actual fuel used versus the mileage from the odometer. Of course the odometer could be inaccurate as well ....

i normally just go by how many miles i get from the full tank rather than actually replying on the trip's mpg figures as it does vary quite easily.

if i'm getting 330+ miles from the tank before the fuel light comes on then i'm ok with it.

Welcome,

30 miles is the only range figure you need to know ;)

Light to a spluttery stop :D

But it tends to average out and can drop when pushing on, can rise when pootling :D

The low fuel warning buzzer is a nice wake up call anyway :D

I have found that my Octy's computer overreads the MPG by 3-4 mpg, ie computer says 38 mpg wallet says 34-35 mpg.

My previous car (Nissan Primera GT) overread by approx 0.2 mpg over the 3 years I had it  . The Octy's true MPG came as a bit of a shock the first time I filled the tank, but I soon got used to it
