Bad radio reception

Featured Replies

Hi ALL

We have a skoda fabia and have bad reception since replacing the radio which has just been getting worse. I have replaced the bee sting aerial incase that was a problem and fitted a PC5-52 but still won't tune in to fm stations. Anyone got any ideas

Try a signal booster if its an aftermarket one. Halfords should sell them.

Am I supposed to connect this PC5-52 to 12v as the unit I bought had a blackwire so I earthed it.

The thin wire connects to 12v usually a blue wire in the ISO connections. Check the wiring diagram for the 12v feed for either electric aerial or for amplifier trigger.

I fitted one off these things at the beginning off this week gotta say cannot believe the difference in reception, I now get 16 stations previously I was lucky to get Radio 1 & 2 and Classic FM

Hope this info helps?

Sounds like the common aerial base issue that afflicts VAG cars.

Seems like you figured it yourself. The amplifier that is already built into the foot of the antenna needs a power supply. VAG radios supply that but aftermarket units don't. So you have to get the 12V supply onto the antenna cable via that PC5-52 that is connected to 12V.

Good luck,

Michael
