I'm jealous, and I never thought I'd say that of a vertically challenged chubby Lancastrian...

Enjoy the day mate....

Ooooo! Have fun :D

sounds good :)

Have a fantastic time :)

Ah Rockingham , i had the racing driver Tommy Erdos take me for 3 fast laps around the inner circuit last year, in a V8 Volvo S80, total laugh , couldn't stop grinning, and the best thing about it, it was free as part of my introduction to Volvo

Just the Porsche would do for me.......

Have a great day:thumbup:

Lucky bugger, I'm not jealous though, I'm enjoying being at work

Loving it...

No wonder its sounds so good with this just behind your head...

Rockingham-55.jpg

And another few laps in the Elise - this time a "high speed passenger trip" - I nearly ended up sitting on the drivers knee in some corners!

Anyone want to work out the value of this little line-up...

I can't resist a yellow car pic...

And of course, throughout the day, your personal protection is of the utmost importance...

Very nice - so how much driving time did you get? :)

The single seater session was 20 mins. There was a pace car followed by a group of four of us - no overtaking allowed but they said to keep 2 - 4 car lengths behind the car in front. However, we got brought in after a few laps to change the order, as the guy in 2nd place ahead of me wasn't keeping up, so he was moved to the rear of the "procession". It got better after that - there was 1 other behind the pace car and then me, and then two behind me. I found the one in front kept up on the straights but wasn't committed enough in the corners with the result that I kept catching him up as we exited each bend.

The "supercar" sessions in the afternoon on the inner track were 6 miles each which worked out as four laps (although I got on well with the Elise instructor and he gave me a couple extra). All are done with an instructor sitting in with you throughout. The instructors have a system of signalling to each other (mainly indicators) to agree overtakes, so all the mirrors are set up for them which I found strange - at least it proves I do use my mirrors as I kept noticing they weren't there! It was quite disconcerting when he tells you to keep to the outside on a particular corner and then a pro driver doing one of the high speed passenger laps comes flying past out of nowhere. But equally there were plenty of times when we got the signal and I was told it was OK to pass the car in front.

All in all you are doing it for the experience. The instructors offer guidance and there are cones to mark braking points, turning points and the apex etc to help with your racing lines, but there is very little teaching they can do in a few laps.

I certainly enjoyed it more as the afternoon wet on - the Ferrari drive was the best but part of that was because I had "learnt" the track to some extent.

You can turn up and just drive one car but it would be over very quickly - my suggestion to anyone else considering it would be to save up until you can afford to do it in a few different cars like I did (even if you do have to wait until your 40!)

Mine was a present so I don't know exact costs but it was run by Driving Experiences and Track Racing Days if you want an idea.

Looks like you had a fabulous day, how long until the big grin comes off that face :D :D I think I'd be grinning for months to come
