Octavia Battery Terminals - broken screw

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Yesterday I when I was reconnecting battery, I broke the screw what does tight the minus terminal. Don't know how to explain it in 100% because of my lack of English. Sorry for every mistake by the way.

I did tight it for now with kind of tourniquet, but I need a proper part to replace it.

Could you please tell me, give me some ideas where I could get that one part, without need to change the terminal.. but just to fix that one screw...?

Thank you,

Tom

Hi Tom,

I have looked on EKTA and you cannot buy the part you have broken, You would have to buy the complete minus (earth lead) cable.

As a repair why not (if you can), cut the round part off, and drill a hole in the same place and the same diameter as the broken one.

Then use a bolt of the same diameter as the broken one, push the bolt with a washer through the hole, put the nut / washer on the other end of the bolt and tighten.

This should pull everything together and close the battery clamp around the terminal post.

Good Luck

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your answer.

I also thought to have a look at scrapyards.. what do you think? Maybe with a bit of luck I could find that - same bit.. ?

I did not add before that I live in the UK, North Yorkshire..

Thank you once again.

Halfords used to sell replacement clamps .

Your welcome Tom, scrapyard is a good idea, plus a visit to Halfords as suggested,

make sure its a superstore as smaller shops are rubbish.

Superstores are just less rubbish than smaller shops....

The superstore in Stevenage has a pink colour section for accessories for "girlie cars":P.

So its creeping in everywhere, pink steering wheel cover on a car?????.

Opppppssss apologies to lady members
