VAG-COM required.

Featured Replies

Hi,

On monday I received a used 3 button flip key from e-bay (bought for £7), so far I have split the key removed the old transponder and put the transponder from the spare key in and got a new blade cut (which works) for £15. Now all that needs doing is to get the remote to be coded to the ECU in my car. The car in question is a MY2002 Fabia 1.9TDi Comfort (the car currently has remote central locking (manufacturer fit, not dealer fit). The car is going in the garage tomorrow (28/07/09) for a new wheel bearing.

So is there anyone in or around the North West area with VAG-COM willing to do this.

Thanks,

Chris

Used fobs cant be programmed.

Why do you need it coding?

If you put the transponder from your spare key, which presumably was coded to the car, in your new key then the transponder will still work.

Yes, but the remote element is 'coded' or paired to the ECU. The transponder is only for the immobiliser.

The ECU wont permit a used remote.

So I just get a new remote from the dealer

So I just get a new remote from the dealer

I suspect that's going to cost a little bit more than £7

To program the remote, you do not need vag com! There is a process of using the normal key in the ignition, and then putting the new key into the lock and pressing the buttons, can find out exactly if needs be! But it isn't hard! And I have programmed old remotes to work on different cars, so aslong as its the same frequancy then it should be fine!
