Fitted the DEH-8400MP last night

Featured Replies

WOW! what a unit - I ended up playing with its little motorised panels for most of the night. I was down at a chav cruise at Torquay so spent time fitting my HU instead of talking to people that sometimes just pi55 me off royally. :D

First fit - ISO's wrong way round,

Second fit - Permanent live wired in... Wouldn't turn off when I took out key.

Third fit - Remote wired in to permanent live - amp stayed on.

Fourth fit - everything working fine, but so much cabling at the back I can't lock the thing in position.

Quality wise, the audio seems to have improved, but some tweaking is needed because more sound seems to be coming from the rear door tweeters than the fronts... Same with the bass. Not sure how to tweak this as navigation of the HU seems complicated and I've not had a serious play yet. Maybe I need to use one the other rear preout for the subs? Got a steering remote though off one of the cruisers last night!

:P - I may have been at the cruise, but it doesn't make me chav. :D It took a couple of more friendly un-chav cruisers to get the Pioneer finally wired in right

nice one mate

enjoy :D

Thanks. nice to know for a change I wasn't the victim of dodgy ICE from ebay - genuine seller, and a genuine product.

Gotta have a play on the web now, because apparently there are downloads to make custom patterns/movies on the screen bit of these HUs... Yet to find out how/where/when etc. ;)

WHy dont you take the glove box out to help pull the wires through.....

Easy to do on both the Fabia and Octy

Edited to say, Jayce, do you actually have a glove box fitted that needs taking out atm? ;)

Really??? Let me know if you have any joy in finding anything out - I have one of these HUs and had no idea you could do that with it (a quick bleary-eyed google revealed nothing this morning)!!!

I've a DEH-8400 as well but Pioneer say you can not download new OEL screens on this model, but I bet someone somewhere has. How about a Briskoda display by the IT guru's on here :)

- quote from Pioneer website:-

"PC Link Kit

Don't like the graphics on your OEL display? Change them. With a PC Link Kit, you can load images onto your Pioneer headunit that you've downloaded from the internet. Use static images in JPEG and BMP formats, and amimations in AVI formats.

Pioneer even has downloadable software that you can use to create and modify your own images located at http://www.pioneer.co.jp/car/pclinklight/index-e.html.

Just burn them to a CD and have a dealer load it onto your headunit. We even offer screensavers and background images which are available on the web at http://www.pioneer.co.jp/car/pclink/index-e.html.

PC Link is only compatible with DEH-P900HDD, DEH-P9400MP, and DEH-P9300 (2001). "

Download is on the new 7600/8600/9600 models with no need to buy the PC link kit if I remember rightly

Thought this Lord of the BLINGS might be the sort of thing you were thinking of? :D

How about a 'This Way Up' movie :D

:finger:

I'm always off the net when these things happen, but I caught this one! :D

I have a couple of websites to get these movies from - I'm assured they work on the 8400 too. WIll experiment later and when I find it works I'll do a small post. ;)
