2009 FL vRS or 2008 vRS ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am from Australia and looking at buying an Octavia vRS Estate TFSI. The facelift version wont be on our shores for another 5 weeks, however I have found a nice deal on a brand new (old shape) 08 vRS that Skoda has discounted. The price of the 08 is a good price, however is it worth the wait and the extra price tag associated with the FL version? How much has changed apart from the Face Lift? I am really confused and am going ot put a deposit on one of them tomorrow.

Also, the FL version is the MY2009 right?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

For me it would be how much discount there is between the two. Because it's likely that come resale time, the pre-facelift will be worth less than the revised model.

Key changes are to the bumper, headlights, daylight running lights (in Europe at least?) and an updated interior; including updated steering wheel, climate control unit and the Bolero headunit.

they are offering me the FL version for 9% more than the old shape

If you can afford the extra cost then wait otherwise you'll wish you had.

Actually, Australian pre-facelift '09 compliance (V)RS's already have the updated interior, including all of the above interior items you mentioned. This includes the newer instruments, plus the dash is backlit with white LEDs instead of the old incadescent green bulbs.

My old man picked up a May '09 complianced RS TSI DSG BM hatch, which has all of the above. Love the Bolero (RDS510?) btw.

So, to the OP, I'd dare say the '08 you're looking at will have the old interior.

Just got back from Australia (Adelaide) and had a nose around a Skoda dealer while I was there.

As you say, the vRS appeared to have all of the interior updates, but lacked the changes to headlights/bumpers/rear lights/wheels/badges.

I guess there are therefore three different specs that you could look at (original, original with facelifted interior, full facelift inside and out), with only the exterior update still not available in Australia.

For my UK purchase I wanted the new exterior, therefore had to buy a brand new car. You pays your money and takes your choice

Yeah, the 09 compliance models had the new interior, but there were none left in Petrol/Manual/Estate. The model I was looking at was an 08 - so still had the older interior.

Anyway, you only live once and I think the FL exterior looks brilliant. So I bought it...........Candy White, Petrol, Manual Combi/Estate/Wagon (whatever you call it in your par tof the world!)......... However I wont see it till September. Has anyone got any photos of a white estate? I saw some photo's in another thread, however it had a black bonnet......anyone got any non black photo's? I think the white looks classic.

I will post pics when I get it. Thanks for the info.

Good stuff, Tunes! Should be a nice vehicle. One thing I'm trying to find out, do you know if your FL (v)RS Combi comes standard with AFS bi-xenons, or are they still an option just like bi-xenons were on the older model?

I thought I read somewhere that the Xenon's were standard. however I could be wrong....I will let you know when I get it.

I picked up my MY10 Skoda Octavia vRS on Monday. I set aside all of today to detail the car while watching Bathurst and this is the result.

Due to the light being low at 5:00pm this afternoon, the photos dont quite show how good the paint work looks.

Anyway, here is my baby. Feel free to comment.
