Skoda Wash Concentrate

Featured Replies

I'm using the normal Skoda mix. After each service there has been a bottle in the boot.

I like the idea of using vodka as an anti-freeze. Dilute with soda. Great if you are in a convertible behind...

Which dealer?

Ashmore Green Skoda in Newbury.

The fan washer nozzles are pretty cheap and 5 minutes to change. I live in a hard water area and it's that which gets to them - about every 2 - 2 1/2 years. You do need to keep washer fluid concentration up in winter (the dealer checked this when I had a water in boot problem - I guess Skoda UK made him do it so they could reject the claim if it hadn't been up to scratch. Wasn't the washer hose popping off but a seal / latch issue).

Asda winter stuff is good value. I agree with the previous commenbts on the Halfords stuff. Otherwise, in summer, whatever's in the shops.

There's little in modern screen wash which is nasty / aggressive. Methanol for winter and a bit of soapiness is about all. Otherwise it would be covered in health warnings.....

Must admit in the Pug I used to have I used a bottle of cheapo Washing up liquid, which did a damned good job until it got low & then I got jets more of foam & bubbles than water, and not much cleaning! :(

The worst thing was trying to get rid of it, it was like never ending, it wasn't bad for a 49p litre bottle of stuff, but a bu**er to get out of the system.

Premixed from Lidl's £4 a gallon, I have had no trouble over the past three years.

Methanol is poisonous , maybe that is why vodka and Halfords screen wash are ethanol based?:)

A check on the german Skoda-page reveals that it is packed in 25-bottles-boxes:

The stuff is fabulous, I have got a box from it by someone working at a Mercedes-dealer:

Although, to be honest, I use it in an way not quite intended: I fill a 5 litre cannister with water and put one of those bottles in it. I have made the experience that if you put one bottle per filling of the octavias water tank the resulting liquid gets a little thick.

But it really works absolutely perfect, especially with those "Fächerdüsen" (water nozzles - don't know the correct english word ...) the Octavia is equipped with.

Another advantage of the aforementioned expensive Skoda- and Mercedes stuff is that it is not smelling at all....

Mind you, I would never pay 45 Euros for it, I got mine gratis from the friend at Mercedes....
