Creaking Door Seal anyone??

Featured Replies

Hi there,

My '08 plate VRS estate seems to have developed an annoying creaking from the front passenger door area. I saw this listed as a common problem on the octavia-vrs website:

"There may be a complaint of squeaking / creaking noises from around the door aperture on Octavia A5 vehicles, the fix for this is to replace the door seals with a modified part"

Although my dealer hasn't heard of the problem and typically it wouldn't do it when he came out for a drive in it today.

Anyone else had this?

Cheers,

Mine started doing this once I opened the rear offside door. I had read about putting silicon lubricant onto the seals, but I had a cloth and can of Abersol Groom trim cleaner, so used that on them and I haven't noticed any creaking since.

I’ve had the same problem with my ’08 Elegance Estate, you can see some of my comments here:

I have since had all of the door seals changed, after I complained to the Society Of Motor Manufactures and Traders, and the noise is cured.

I would try the dealer, if they won’t do anything try Skoda Customer Services. Again, if they say they’ve never heard of it they are lying. If you still don’t get anywhere go to the SMMT website and make a formal complaint as I did.

Generally I found that the noise was not so bad on the wet days as I assumed the dampness acted as a lubricant.

I’m amazed that the dealers still aren’t aware of this as a common problem on the estates.

I wonder if there was a 'bad' batch of seals during '08. My car was first registered at the start of June '08, and it was fresh from the factory. Is your car about the same 63ellsbells?

I have the same issue on a 2008 vrs
