Hi,if you aint doing big mileage go for a petrol,but I plummed for a diesel a fantastic car and I tried them all mondeo,passat ,avensis even the audi,superb all the way:D

we have the 1.8TSi DSG. engine great. gearbox great (apart from a bit of a jerk from 1st to 2nd when the car is cold)

we get 35mpg across all sorts of driving. have got 40mpg on long journeys.

no problems specific to the petrol. other Teething problems with electonics.

petrol is so much quieter than diesel. if you dont do the mileage then petrol wins hands down for me.
