good read this , learning more . i still think it might be best me changing the throttle body and in the mean time ill look out for a cheap N75 . on the VRS is the N75 and ' F ' rating ?

It is. have you tried cleaning the TB rather than replace?

i had my car mapped and the 17705 fault came up so my new map was sent away to a guy in greece who has a 1.8t running 600+BHP it came back with that part of the fault codes written out and bloody hell does it fly now!

what map was it before tweaking? did your tuner send the map or did you DIY?

Ah, another point: if what you're saying is true, how come a lot of people seem to have boost problems because of faulty n75s. Boost problems = low boost. I mean, if the turbo would produce enough boost (because the wastegate would never open since the n75 is fauly) they would have to have overboost problems, not low boost problems, right?

The N75 will be 'fail-safe'. So in it's unpowered state the P1 tap will be closed, supplying P2 pressure directly to the actuator can, as in a normal passive control system.

I don't know what the actuator setting pressure would be, but I guess it'll be between 5 and 10psi. Someone that's removed their N75 would know. It'll be easy enough to find out if you want to.

For such a simple little thing, the N75 is pretty awesome!

cleaned the throttle body twice . first it work for acouple of months but the codes was still there but didnt really have any boost problems . try it the second time and no joy .

this morning she was running at 0.3 bar for ten minutes or so and after that it went up to 0.5 bar .

happened on the way home on from work , first ten minutes was 0.3 bar after went up to 0.5 bar for about 2-3 minutes and went back down to 0.3bar

what map was it before tweaking? did your tuner send the map or did you DIY?

it was on a standard map then i had it re-mapped it then developed the usual coil pack N75 problem then the 17705 problem occurred it felt like it was boosting then not boosting etc, the guy who mapped it (Blair) came straight up diagnosed the problem and read/saved my map and sent it away to Greece where the guy over there wrote that fault code out of the map and now the VRS is on fire!! :D

mines spiking at 1.4 bar:eek::eek: needs to be turned down abit lol

1.1 Bar is safe lol

mine was @ 1.2 and holds 1 to the redline but the addition of the high flow exhaust manni has meant it peak very hard:eek:

Boost creep mate lol

:p:d;)

I am trying to find out how to set the wastegate rod correctly, anyone know?

dont touch it is the key if that helps lol :P

:o I had to, someone got there before me and it was set so that it never closed properly, I turned it up a bit, and it runs better as obviously before it was leaking boost. But I want to check that I havent over done it. Someone must know how to do it?

I used to do it at work on 5GT turbo's, it was fairly easy. You set up a DTI gauge on the rod and fed it with a regulated pressure, at a certain pressure you should have a set amout of movement on the rod.

Anyone know where I can get this info?

What turbo is fitted to the MK1 VRS?

im not sure but i think most will have the k03s maybe k03 on early cars not sure i know mine 2002 had a k03s:thumbup:

how about i measure mine and send you the mesurement and put yours to the same??( no jokes please lol);)

I've had a look through the Skoda manual for you to see if they list the actuator setting pressure and rod movement. But they don't list it. It actually says to replace the turbo if it's not moving enough or moving too much!!! Lazy gits!

The turbo is a KKK (Borg Warner) k03s, so you might be able to get some info off them. It's easy to see the difference between a k03 and k03s, because the k03s has a large baffle in the comp outlet, and the comp wheel from the k04.

It sounds like you've set the wastegate fine anyway. Maybe get a boost gauge to check what the peak boost is now.

As Bodge says, simplest way is just to check the boost on a boost gauge and then keep adjusting the rod until it's peaking at just over 10psi or 0.71 bar. I guess it's not adjusted to some really extreme setting at the moment or you would've already blown the engine or turbo up!

For the first time in my life, I tried to be sensible when I adjusted the wastegate rod.

I must be getting old. :(

i think it maybe the throttle body , hope some else agrees so it makes me feel better lol

ive just turned my engine mangement light off ( again :thumbdwn: ) it read that fuel trim code , anyway i gave it of stick and it read 0.5-0.6 bar and it didnt pull and then pulled then didnt and through the whole time it was reading the same pressure .

could it be the throttle body fliping out ? if so , it will get sorted after my hoilday next week fingers cross
