Climatronic stops cooling after 30 min., any idea why?

Featured Replies

A friend of mine has the problem, car is 2007 Roomster Comfort (43K km). Climatronic stops cooling after 30 min, blows hot ambient air (like working in ECON mode). When we stop the engine and turn it on, it starts to cool, but after 30 min goes off again.

No fault codes. Has someone experienced similar problem?

All sensors and evap. are controlled at the dealer, nothing is wrong.

They will change the AC compressor maybe under warranty... :(

What cabin temperature is being selected? 18 degrees? LO ?

Still sounds like a sensor problem to me, or possibly the control unit.

Any signs of dust around the 2 little vents on the Climatronic control panel? If so, apply a vacumn to them using ahose tool, let it just suck a bit, then scrub them along the long direction of the grille openings. May not work, but it's cheap and easy.

Thank you for the inputs.

The AC compressor has been changed yesterday, problem solved.

Well, that's interesting to know - it's all useful stuff! I'm not sure there is any plausible mechanical cause for the compressor to give you that fault, but perhaps it was a fault in the electronic variable displacement control (Denso compressor). Let's hope that was done under warranty as those aren't cheap. Auto climate control is great.... but.... after 27 years in the vehicle AC business give me manual air conditioning anytime . and yes, my R3 has Climatronic too......can't wait!
