open box/fbpanel config?

Featured Replies

A long shot, but Briskoda resources are sometimes amazingly vast, so why shouldn't there be expertise on this one?

I'm running a linux distro using open box/fbpanel and want to fit a caps/num lock indicator applet (gai-leds) to the taskbar but cannot figure out how to edit the /.fbpanel/open file so that the applet appears in the systray corner of the taskbar. Any suggestions?

You're running openbox!!

VIM ;)

Seriously though is the applet a native applet or just an X-Windows applet.

I could very well be wrong, but I don't think this is going to work. gai-leds is built on GAI which is ancient. GAI docs say 'This library supports at the moment Dockapps/wmapplets, ROX panel applet and Gnome 2 Panel Applets'. fbpanel's 'tray' areas are for XEMBED applets.

Ignore the previous link.

Basically I'm sure there is a native plug in for fbpanel.

Thanks for your comments/suggestions.

I'm afraid wega3k is perfectly right about fbpanel/XEMBED. At the same time cheezemonkhai is probably right that there must be a plug in out there somewhere.

The distro (tailored for the eee) is developed by two German guys. One of them (the core developer) suggested gai. The other (the fbpanel guru) is on holidays... he might come up with a suggestion when he returns.

Not a major issue, but the eee doesn't have any led keybord indicators and sometimes I accidently hit the caps lock key when entering a password without knowing/noticing.
