I'm about to pick up a 2002 Fabia TDI (74kw), which I understand has an engine code ATD.

what's the recommended Oil for this engine?

VW 505.01 ??

If this is the case, can I use VW 504.00 507.00 instead ?

Yes 505.01 is the best for regular servicing. Can use 507.00 long life if you do perhaps low mileage, or want the oil to last 2 years or so / 20,000 odd miles. Personally I would prefer regular use of 505.01 to pushing the life of 507.00.

Quantum Platinum is about the best value oil you can get at 505.01

So if I can use VW 504/507 without any ill effects, then this is what I'll use.

I managed to buy shed loads of Quantum 504/507 at Gti international this year for dirt cheap.
