Guys....

im not sure if im going mad but im sure that "at legal motorway speed"

it feels like a cross winds kind of thing on the back end of my octy, that sort of sway kinda feel .... :(

sometimes it really gets my attention. but if im gettign abit ott on roundabouts or corners ............... :D

its got kws and a rarb, and im running 34psi front and back now i beleve? or is it 32? i cant remember lol

or is it mind over matter i wonder?

Could suspension geometry be out causing this ??

I always put it down to it been larger than my old Clio, maybe there is something more to it..

it all got alligned once fitted.......... couldnt hurt to go get it checked tho. being loweted and after potholes and bumps :(

just thought id gather some thoughts b4 chucking money at it :(

Tracking, missing balancing weight, incorrect tyre pressure, directional tyres wrong way.....

mite be worth a trip to protyre and chuck it on the lazers  they could pop the rims off and check them too i supose, would it show then if a rim was bent ?

hey up Lloyd mate,

I find this some times. I find that wind does seem to affect my car. Could it be the rear beam bushes going? more movement than normal?

some of it I recon is all in the head as some times the car feels soooo planted and fun and others it feels soft and not there,

hope you get it sorted.

I just thought when the octy vRS got to around 140-145mph the back end simply went a bit light due to aerodynamics / windflow, whatever. Pretty sure this doesn't happen at "legal motorway speeds" ;) Maybe driving into a 100mph headwind.

How long ago were the KW's fitted? If they've been on ages then rear beem bushes sound likely.

If they are fairly new and KW variant 3's reduce the bump and rebound damping rates on the rear from the standard setting as they made my car feel very skitish at first when set wrong.

Otherwise just slow down

Waiting for every one to say "that's rich coming from the Nurburging barrier visiter!!" :sofahide:

it doesn't just happen in the inside lane does it? i.e. where lorries have made troughs in the road and you're going in and out of these?

Hopefully it is something as simple as this for you, otherwise I'd reckon bushes or overally suspension set-up

its only kw1, they were fitted prob 2 . 2 and abit years ago.

so prob about 3 - 4000 miles ago

i only question it as a steady "50ish" drive up the portway the other day got my attention:(

it was the main lane of the road, but the other times it has been um.......... outside lane lol

im tempted to take it to protyre and get them to check all the allignment when i got some spare cash.

im still also trying to sort what tyre pressure would be best for my wheels, 32 they seem to sit nye flat at time, damit

least ive had no fingers pointed at the rims ................. yet lol :chairs:

I wonder; the data plate on mine says that front tyre pressures should be 2PSI up on rears. Also, if you're running Toyos, you might want to be 2PSI up on them, but I think most makes want to be as recommendation.

I run my ones at 30psi-32psi.

not always 31 lol

30 for around home and 32 for a run. with weight I adjust accordingly to weight. I found that always running on the flap pressures mine seemed to wear in the middles. whith you having 20" rims it may be diff.

billy

I think my standard 17's are 30 front and 32 rear, I usually increase these by a couple of psi if on the motorway with a carload of passengers.

Not sure what effect having 20" on there will do to it?

Ken - I think the diesels have more pressure in the fronts because of the weight of the engine, my sisters Leon TDi is the same

im just about to get the worse checked, going to nip down and check i dont have a bent rim :orb_sad:

ive spoke to a few garages today and alot are pointing towards low pressure,

the 20s are going to be heavier than the 17s so its all extra weight, maybe it is some extra i need to stick in. ?

cheers guys for the help n idea 1st, maybe im just going mad ?

lets hope so mate,

them 20s will weigh a tonne lol, even the std 17s are heavy, what have you been doin to bend one? unless you hit a curb or a big hole I cant se them bending, my old mk5 R32 rims were heavy but very strong. looked ace to imo lol but then I opt for som lightweight TD ones lol, made the car feel much faster and planted. 4mpg more on adv too lol

 the 20s are fine, they were abit out of balance, so they are now sorted

running 34psi in back and 32psi in the fronts :D

going to see how it goes when it venture off the drive again

i'll get a 4 wheel allignment next if need be. or maybe my head sorted

but the rims are good :leb:

good news.

lets hope it was the balance and a bit in ur head lol
