Advice please - Supaguard, Diamondbrite or just a regular detail??

Featured Replies

As the title suggests, I'm wondering if it is worth getting a coating of Supaguard or Diamondbrite applied to my car?

Or is it just as good getting a good detail carried out on a regular basis?

Do any of these products offer any kind of stone chip protection??? (I'm not asking for miracle mind...)

Thanks

Ali

Just some good wax IMHO.

It's worth doing the inside with Scotchguard though.

just needs a good maintenance schedule and wax or for longer durabillity a sealant.

dont rate scotchguard euther though. regular hoover and wet vac once a year,

I don't know how much the Scotch Guard had to do with it but my mate got blood on the light coloured alcantara bit of my passenger seat this week and it wiped off completely with no effort using just a bit of damp kitchen roll.

In terms of the exterior though, I'd just get a good detail.

I've used Diamond Brite in the past on my R32, it's a good wax sealant to be honest. Each coating will easily last 6-12months (don't listen to the dealers when they say it lasts 6years).

I'd happily recommend it. It does no harm, and is easy enough to apply.

Just don't buy it from the dealer, do it yourself. The two stage kits are available for £15 or so.

Thanks everyone.

it is kinda as I thought. I've never yet put it on a car - always preferring to keep them polished up but the paint on my Octy is soooo soft and seems to get chipped by raindrops!!!

Anyone recommend a good detailler in Cumbria/SW Scotland???

DIY. Much cheaper and far more satisfying.

OK, you'll probably cry after spending all day on it only to turn around and find the local starling population holding bombing runs on it.

Just get some Collinite 845 Wax and some micro fibre pads to apply it, some MF cloths. Big bucket, lambswool mitt and some good shampoo like Megs Liquid Gold and oh, a large drying cloth. You'll be sorted then. Apply the wax VERY thin, wait 30mins, buff and we apply. This will last about 3 months.

You could also dress the tyres with Megs Endurance Gel and maybe seal the alloys with Poorboys sealant, you should never need to use alloy cleaner, just normal shampoo. I'd suggest an Ezi Brush to clean the insides.

I had superguard on this current car...and it certainly helps with the amount of seagull crap that drops on my car
