A few animals pics from chester zoo

Featured Replies

Here are a few shots from the zoo earlier in the week. A great day out

Animals - a set on Flickr

I'm going next Friday for the "Lazy Summer Evening" - give my Sony A350 a good runout! Anyone else going?

Love the baby rhino!

Which lens would be better to take? Sony 18-70mm or Sigma 75-300mm? Only want to take one!

Thanks Rob - that was the best pic I got of it, even after hanging around for quite a while, I reckon feeding was in that corner and mummy rhino was keeping it away from the people.

The 75-300 would be the best bet as most of mine were at the 200mm end of the 18-200. Anything shorter and you'll get more background than animal, and spend the rest of the week cropping them all!!!

Enjoy yourself, I really could have spent longer

Quality shots!

Looked like you jumped in most of the exhibits!

Cool pics! Wish I could take photos like that...

Nice, looks like you enjyed the Cheetah.

Thanks all for the comments - the cheetah's were excellent, especially as their location masked the enclosure fences so it could almost be in the wild. Will be getting a couple printed for the wall I think.

Didn't see the Cheetah when I went on Friday as it was quite late. Also the Chimps had been put to bed by that time (apparently they have a very strict routine and literally go ape if it ges knocked out of sync, even slightly!). :P

Got some other good shots tho. Will be saving a better quality lens with a bigger zoom range
