At What mileage do you change your Diesel filter?

At What mileage you you change your Diesel filter?

This is my first diesel and the manual says 30K kms, but should it not be longer?

The other question was I do mostly motorway miles and the car was serviced 15K kms ago. The variable service says there is another 21K kms till its due a service again. So if I was to wait till then to replace the filter would it be too long? the total distance on the car at that stage would be 50K kms (30K miles)

Cheers

Yes thats the interval so will be ok until then.Iam just on 31K and my filter will be changed next week at service

I was in Pheonix Motors a couple of weeks ago getting some bits and they confirmed that they themselves change the fuel filter every second oil service (30,000kms). They are not that expensive if you wanted to have it done every service but it really isn't required.

I'd recommend getting it done early. My 170PD VRS shut down into limp mode when I was returning from the west of Ireland last week, so I had a long slow drive back to Sheffield.

It was due for an end of warranty check anyway, so it went into Bickertons (local Skoda dealer) who determined, after lengthy diagnostic checks, that the fuel system was fouled. It turned out to be due to a blocked fuel filter and this required tthe whole fuel system to be stripped down and cleaned though.Fortunately the work was done under warranty; it would have been an expensive fix otherwise.

Praise to Bickerton's here for sorting this out.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did check the user manual and it did say 30k kms. So I picked up a filter and fitted it myself (5 min job) €37 euro for the filter. Oil not due for another 20K kms
