Devilsown kit fitted

Featured Replies

Go hunting then fella :D lol never really looked into it myself tbh.

LOL @ Petrol, thats why when you said oil into petrol i was thinking hmmm!

TBH, it does say the OP has a Fabia vRS which is ONLY made as a diesel, and im pretty sure it says in my sig what engine is in mine :)

Diesel is a oil btw ;)

What does this kit do exactly?

I have a 230 litre DRUM of methanol :D :P

Looks like a tidy install. I kept all my "gubbins" in the engine bay for ease of use and access, but also because I am an engine bay tart and the controller said it was "engine bay proof" in regard to water ingress blah blah.

I didnt really have room unless I moved the battery like you. Just posted up a wanted methanol thread around my area see if anyone has any first.

Dev - What mix do you run?

What does this kit do exactly?

A quick search will find your answer matey :) Basically lowers temps and possibly increases power but I havnt seen any before and after RR results to confirm

I mix roughly 50/50, but erring on the side of water. (I can't be ar5ed usually to measure it out accurately) - I have a 5 litre cider container that I first fill up with water to roughly half, then top up with the methanol using a funnel. PS: Getting a bit of methanol on bare skin makes it feel a bit "tingly" and warm.... I dread to think how nasty this stuff really is! :D

I'll experiment when I get some. Did you require a map adjustment after you installed as I'm thinking maybe now I can run a bit more boost now that my charge temps wont be as high

Devilsown says a 30% mix is 'safe' Im personally guna go with 25% to start with.

Mapping does need updating with mine, although the car does run real nice at the moment. It's never felt this fast in a track situation since I've owned it - Bovington & Hullavington days in particular, hence why I am so looking forward to the Ring trip next month.

I ran a 50/50 mix over the winter but now the temps are getting higher dropped down to about 25% methanol and 75% water in rder to reduce the smoke and lower intake temps more. My RR graph showed that with the methanol mix on, the pwer curve was almost idential, just 20bhp higher than without. That was with the smallest jet fitted and lower pressure too, so should now be about 30bhp higher. Its definitely noticable enough when you drive with it on/off

Sounds good. Just need to get hold of some methanol soon. I'll have a before and after RR print out, so will post that up when I have it done

Thats a very very good post to read :D Was the 20bhp increase at a 50/50 mix? How did smoke levels decrease mate? Did you change the mapping or just see a increase? Which kit is that, basic or progress? Finally what jet was fitted, and is now fitted? Oh and do you have the dual nozzle jobbie? LOL. Sorry for all the questions :)

Haha go on T. You any idea when your fitting yours?

Hey, you dont ask you dont get :D

Well I could fit mine like yours atm, but wanted to make a proper mount so didnt have the mess about more than once!

How did you drill the hole for the pre-nozzle set up btw?

Alfie did that for me. Strut brace came off and he went at it with his tap and dye set

Hi mate, try this post. this is when I was playing about with it.

I mpersonally think it also makes a large difference where the nozzles are placed. I had my engine bay aprt so fitted them in the places that I read to be best, not the easiest places to fit them. I have a pre turbo nozzle fitted into the alloy pipe pointing straight at the turbo vanes, this way the water beads are smaller and flow is linear, therefore least likely to cause damage to turbo vanes. my post turbo nozzle is fitted just before the 90 degree bend into the EGR pipe, so as to get even disperse into all 4 cylinders

I have been playing with nozzle sizes and cut in points etc. Cut in point makes a big difference to smoke levels, too low and it smokes like a mofo.... I went for the basic kit, as on my car with the hybrid kkk, the turbo spools up so quickly that the progressive kit seemed to be a waste of money as the car will hit 1.5bar in less than a second.

Juast my 2penny's worth anyway!

Alex

See thats exactly why I did the same and went for the basic kit, by the time it would read boost coming on and inject a set amount id be max on boost at such low rpms.

When you say the pre-turbo nozzle is pointing straight at the turbo vanes? Any pics of the placement?

I currently have a EGR delete which I was going to place my post turbo nozzle there, think that would be aok?

At which point does yours still kicking in to stop smoke levels but give decent power gains? How much water/meth does it use vs diesel?

So so many questions! LOL sorry!

Mine starts to kick in at 2000rpm and is on full by 2700rpm, but if I load it up its on full sometimes at 2500. My turbo produces about .5 bar more that the kkk so I can have it coming in at a lower value and then on full at peak boost. Think the progressive one was about £40 more expensive but considering I helped with the fitting I got some knocked off anyway.

How much boost are you running then?? I'm running 1.95bar on my KKK, surely your not 1/2bar higher?

I had mine in the EGR delete to start with but have moved it back to the pipe before the bend as i wa not 100% sure that al 4 cylinders were getting the same volume.. Probably were but while I was changing my egr delete pipe ad fitting my fmic I decided to move it. i have put photos of these below.

Mine comes in about 18-20psi as much lower and it comes on too much.. If you go too high, then it will drop out at max rpm as the boost levels drop.

As for how much it uses, I run it in my washer bottle. It is dash switchable too, as it is rather pointless using it in the wet as you jut get more wheelspin. I use a washer bottle, so about 4 litres (I have a xenon bottle and only use the W/I until the level sensor light) about every 600-700 miles. So at 25% mix, its a cheap power gain

Very nasty.

Attacks the nervous system and can eventually causes blindness!

The problem with this stuff is it accumulates in the body so small doses over a period of time can be very nasty.

I have a 1000l of the stuff if anyone wants any ghaha
