Looks like it going to be a Leon FR TDI now as its the only sporty car on the list!!! Oh, there is a BMW 116 Sport on the list but as its a n/a petrol, it wouldn't pull you're **** out straight!!!

I had the same choice nearly two years ago now and ended up with the Leon. Mainly due to the garages I asked for quotes from! Spoke to three Skoda dealers and three Seat dealers, ended up with two Seat quotes and NO Skoda quotes.

It was ok really as I'd just spent two years behind an Octavia Elegance dash and wanted a change, the boot is too small for me really and the dash isn't the greatest design but the performance of the car and external looks really make up for it. Seats are very good and the lower price menas you can spec it up quite nicely.

I wanted white but I needed the car in a hurry and had to buy from stock so ended up with Lunar Grey, it was my second choice anyway.

Now i'm looking at vRS for my next car, now it's facelifted and you can get Bluetooth it's on my really long list of cars to look at. Anyone know if you can get one under £310 + Vat non maintained on a 25k a year lease??

Several people I know with a Parrot bluetooth have had huge problems after a few months. Ok for people who only use them occasionally but for continual use they can't handle it! Plus, for the last 2 cars & 7 years I've had a multi function steering wheel & I know I'll miss it every day... Anyway, even the manual vRS isn't on the list... Somehow an Elegance isn't going to do it for me, taxi anyone?

Oh well. If the manual isnt even on the list I would look elsewhere too as the rest of the range as a whiff of minicab about them (prepared to be hit from all angles now ;-) )

What about a Skoda Fabia Diesel ? Have you seen the inside of a Grand Scenic? Mate go and take out the biggest engined you can see in the Fabia range.

For someone who does a similar amount of miles that seems a very uneconomic list regards mpg. I would go for the 2nd Seat Leon FR on the list. I reckon the Luftwaffe may have made a mistake and put a Cupra on !

I can't imagine wanting anything smaller than an octy if more kids is on the radar, so mini-MPV/estate/big family car looks likely from that list. I have an irrational liking of the Picasso too.

I like the accord on that list..and the mazda 6 is a handsome car I think and drives well

My choice in order would be:

Superb 2.0TDI

Octavia Estate 2.0TDI

Touran 2.0TDI

Mazda 6

I have always foung Seat to me lacking something and hence, while I've come pretty close on occasion. I've never actually been able to take the plunge and buy one. I've always found them to have questionable interiors; in particular the dashboards look absolutely awful and Seat appear to have a unique ability to make plastic look like plastic. I think its the large expanses of flat, untextured areas which contribute to this.

This and this alone has been the primary reason for not buying one although I do think that while sometimes brave styling should be applauded, Seat designs seem to age quickly and lack correct proportions in some applications.

Don't get me wrong, I think the latest, ie facelift Skoda Octavia looks like a dogs dinner and is a prime example of the designer following the herd but I do think it looks considerably better than the Leon which is fantastic from some angles but just plain awkward from others!

Not a great deal of difference in kit - its pretty much all the same anyway so its got to come down to money, looks and personaly preference.

If it was me I'd buy the Octavia but not in white as mark my words it will age quickly. Go for black. Much more classy IMHO.

I do agree about current Leons/Alteas but the previous mk1 Leon/Mk2 Toldeo (such as what I had!) were extremely well screwed together and great quality dashes (it came from the Audi A3!) and was a lovely design.

The new Exeo (which is a B7 Audi A4) has extremely good quality plastics but sod all room :thumbdwn:

I agree. But it is a nice car, nice engine etc. Space being a constraint I can't see past the Octy Estate myself, tis why I have an estate, performance & practicality. Anything other than the Renault. God awful cars. I had one in France for 2 weeks a couple of years back, asmathic, dull, a grey lifeless polished plop. IMHO.
