My Review Of BP Ultimate Derv Juice

IF I HAD KIDS

For me my car is a labour of love. That little peep glance moving the curtains look before you go to bed, and that is my car still there in the morning look as you put the curtains back into place. And am sure am not the only one (I hope...) I dont have a child but if I did I would care what goes into it. No MSG, Artifical colours and flavourings etc. So I take that same approach when It comes to my car, Oil and fuel. (Yes I am a sad case!) So when there came an option of putting something claiming to be better that the first thing I jumped at the chance. All coming to light when I was filling my car up with bobby bob o fuel I noticed a leaflet for this magic ribena cocktail. Better MPG? Better BHP? Better Torque? Less Noise? More Responsive and Less CO2? This can only bring me in mind of goverment making lots of claims that sound very impressive and once you commit, your left short changed, feeling used and stupid. So are these claims justified, or is it another case of the above.

WHATS IT ALL ABOUT

Now if you know your onions and wear an anarak or you just dont care, you can ether skip this section or....

fluffy kittens - Google Images

:thumbup:Here are some fluffy kitten pictures to amuse you for a few minutes. However if you are intrested and can tell people at you next dinner party the claims of alternative premium fuel then read on my prettys! First off certane level is one of the things you should be looking for, and it gives you good idea of the quality your dealing with. In a nutshell the number relates to the igintion delay, this is from the start of fuel injection and the start of combustion. What you should be looking for in "good combustian" is a very fast iginition with a complete and smooth full fuel burn. So at the other end of spectrum a low certane level with give you a slow igination and the fuel will burn far more rapidly and far less complete. All this adds up to in theory, more engine noise, more engine vibration, more emissions and generally not do the engine much good. A more common visual check is "my car smogging when I floor it test". Going back to certane levels, most supermarket fuels are well below 51. BP claims to have anything no less than 55 (can be more) Dont get this mixed up with "Octane" in petrol. The other issue with basic fuel is the lack of a cleaning agent, most other fuels when they burn will leave deposits in your engine and your injectors, or as my mum would say "bad stuff" BP claim to have fixed this issue and cleans as you drive. They also claim to have a rust protection formula in the fuel as well. Now truthfully as am typing this am watching Jeremy Kyle, and am getting very distracted so am going to leave it at that, if you want more info have a check on there webby link below.

BP Ultimate UK

HOW I DID IT

My car was an ex demo and had been running on A5DA fuel so the first thing that needed to be done was run the tank dry (scary when you have your fuel light on all the time) as the car claimed to have 30miles left in the tank I began adding five quids worth of this new bp fuel. Now all the above considered and going back to having kids. It was almost like weening your kids off breast milk and putting them strait on Jack Daniels and Red Bull mixed together! Doing my fiver trick for 200miles followed then by fifteen quids worth in the tank and letting that run all the way down until 20miles, I was satisfied that there was no more A5DA breast milk left in my car...I mean Fuel. I hope you also agree this was a fare way to go about things. It did not appeal to me to run the engine out of fuel and then have it bleeded with the new fuel, I dont have that equipment or time :P.

BIG QUESTION IS IT ANY GOOD?

All excited with what I had been told and watching on "Dave" a fifth gear review with promosing results, the extra cost seemed to be worth it. And after over six thousand miles with it in and can say with full confidence. YES! It is worth every penny and then some! This stuff is the daddy! As soon as put my 2nd tank full in I noticed the car was running alot quieter and alot more smoother. The cars smog had cut down massively and the car felt wonderful, pulling strongly threw all the gears with a much faster and sharper throttle response. Mpg was down tho going down on average by 2mpg, but I drive around the city so its all traffic lights and what not, but am going on a long holiday drive shortly so I will update and let you know how it gets on. Dont treat this option like redex or millers, I know plenty of people that put a splash and a dash in, and claim the results are minimal. Some cars show an improvment strait away, you should stop using what you are currently using and just fill up with nothing else but this. The more miles you put on the car with this in will help massively. Were in an enviroment were money is tight and saving pennys here and there all ads up. Not in this case splash the extra cash! It really is worth leaving the breast milk and going strait on to the Jack Daniels and Red Bull, I will name It "Red Jack"

HOW MUCH IT COST ME

I Dont know.....

GOOD AND THE BAD

+Lower Noise Levels

+Its Stopped Shaking!

+Better Pull Threw The Gears

+Less Smog

+Stealth Mod :P

+Better In The Long Run?

-Could Be Expensive In The Long Run

-Takes Time Feel Full Goodness!

OVERALL

TXIXC Rating 4/5

P.S. Missed my review on the PD160 intake find out my findings with it on this cracking little derv engine below.

Again sorry if there is spelling mistakes

You can obtain identical results by using Millers Diesel Power Sport 4 additive in any diesel for a fraction of the cost of BP ultimate.

Millers is broadly a similar additive package to the one BP use in Ultimate, namely

1. Cetane Booster - this is what give you the smoother, lower noise running and better starting.

2. Cleaning package - cleans injectors leading to restored optimum injector spray patterns - "increased power and (possibly) improved economy" - This cleaner is responsible for the reduction in smoke emissions (although initially they may increase temporarily if your injectors/piston crowns are caked up)

3. Lubricity enhancer.

Works out at about 2p/litre

yer but thats splash and dash stuff mate, used to know loads of people that used millers and it did nothing, just lots of blue and black smoke as it took away all the deposits, and even causing erratic idling :(

Same would happen if you used BP ultimate in an old car.

Theres no black magic with BP Ultimate. Its just an additive package.

But I agree, Millers is messy, however it is a lot cheaper, and you can choose the quantity to use.

BP Ultimate or Millers - the benefits are only fully realised after several tankfuls.

Sometimes using fuel of a different grade can actually cause problems. It caused my previous Hyundai Getz to shake and vibrate badly at idle on TESCO 99RON as it seemed to advance the ignition timing too much

For anyone with a Petrol Fabia II there is no need to use fuel like this.

What I find so funny is a lot of people fill up cars that dont need high octane/cetane fuel with the BP Ultimate or Shell Optimax e.g., yet the number of people filling up VW FSI or Mitsubishi GDI motors with the regular 95 amuses me

Its very true the funniest thing i ever heard, was the last place i worked a couple of barry chav rude boys came in sporting large helmets. picking a bottle of NOS super boost octane booster and I Quote "Will this make a diffrence on a 50cc ped?" I then replied "What a scooter?" smiling sarcasticly "Yer In it!" came the reply. "No mate. It wont do anything has your engine been tuned to run on nothing but a high octane fuel!?". "No" came the reply

Am so surprised people are so negative towards this fuel  each to there own i guess :holmes:

- Normal derv is between 100.9 and 103.9 here.

- BP normal derv is always at that top end of the scale

- BP ultimate is about 111.9-114.9.

At 10p plus per litre you can keep it thanks.

10p per litre, @55L tank = £5.50 per tank extra.

600 miles per tank, assuming it's driven for economy and every year (assuming 12k miles) you're paying 20 tanks * £5.50 = £110 more. Eg most of a service.

Double that to what most people running dervs probably do (24k a year) and that's a full service every year saved on fuel.

I've never seen the improved MPG and often the opposite from the "super dervs" and a service is going to have at least as much of a positive effect on MPG etc as anything else.

New oil, new filters are all good.

I rate BP ultimate highly and have certainly noticed a big difference in all my diesel cars owned. It is a bit expensive but would put in when i get the chance of finding a BP garage in the Poole and Bournemouth area.

glad you agree mate thought it was all in my head haha

i agree with you on the additives, i know plenty of highly respectiable mechanics who dont rate it at all. Well as my review states i love the bp, ive not used the shell but my dad had it in his old vrs and ran wonderfully.

ill have to rember to give it a kiss night night tonight
