Octavia 1.8t VRS 2002 in Drogheda, Ireland....

Featured Replies

Hi everybody...

Nice group you got going here! Have never owned a VAG car before. Last week I traveled to England and imported a 2002 Octavia VRS with 89,000 miles and full SH. The car has an intermittent issue with hesitation under acceleration. I admire lots of aspects of the car so far, such as comfort, build quality, refinement, decent accceleration. I do not particularly enjoy the disconnected feel from the driving experience. The steering feel is poor and the stiff front end is incredibly unsettled on all but the smoothest of roads? Ahh well....it's done now so I guess I will have to make the most of it.... Any comments? :wavey:

Try searching for "hesitation" in the Octavia forum, you should find some useful info. Cleaning the throttle body is a good place to start. Other causes can be split hoses, again info available by searching. If you can find someone with VAGCom software, get the ecu scanned for fault codes - this should point to things like split hoses.

One highly recommended modification for the handling would be to fit a rear anti roll bar (Whiteline or similar).

Welcome :)

If u have seen a silver 01 RS knocking town that would be me. Welcome

Hello and welcome :wavey:

As said above cleaning the throttle body would be a good place to start, There is a very good guide to doing it in the technical guides forum. Chicken Eyebrow's guide is excellent:thumbup:

Thanks for the welcome. I am going to try cleaning the throttle body and see if this helps. I have already done some homework on this problem. I have a month's warranty on car and would like to isolate problem ASAP. Anybody recommend someone near me who can be trusted to work on these cars? Someone with some passion for their work!

regards

Not sure of anyone in the drogheda area. I live about an hr from there.

How's it going mate. Car's getting scanned for faults on Friday and picking up gasket for TBA. Might know more then :) Will look into Whiteline ARB thanks. Looking for silicone hose set first and forge diverter. Maybe good plugs too :)
