Sump plugs

Featured Replies

I had a quick look at the sump plug on my Fabia 1.2 12V and was surprised to see it wasnt a hex headed bolt thing but a button head thing with what appears to be a socket hole. :parhmph: Because of space in the garage I couldnt see very well. :magnify:

Does it take a hex (allen) key to unscrew it? I also read to my alarm that some sump plugs are designed to be disposable - would this be one of those? - if so how much roughly are they? (This could double my DIY servicing cost! )

Very often disposable these days - if not, at least replace the copper washer. Shouldn't cost more than a couple of quid.

That's ECO friendly progress for you - instead of an 8p washer which the dealer charged 60p, its now 1.30p for a machined plug!!
