Door mirror spares?

Featured Replies

Clashed door mirrors with a BMW, and thought that I had got away with it, but closer inspection shows that his mirror had gone under mine, breaking the lens on the indicator repeater.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get the lens, or repeater light assembly, as a separate item?

If possible, is it a simple job to fit?

Thanks

You get the repeater/puddle light assembly, not too expensive, I think. Fitting it is a bit awkward, but you can get away with it.

the lens itself is not expensive, it is around 10 euro. but you need to buy a new connecter lead, that little thing cost over 20 euro. not so sure about the year of your car but mine is 05 so the dealer said i needed a new lead. to fit it is not a difficult job. I had it fitted in my local garage and it costed me 10 euro. I watched the whole process however I still don't know how to fit it myself.

I simply soldered the connector from the broken one to the new one being fitted and sealed around it with some rubber caulking (silicone, I think) I had handy from another job involving a fish tank.

While actually fitting the indicator myself I did resort to a friend with a bit more nerve than I had to pull the glass off. I was unsure I'd break it, but then again I am a little paranoid at times.

Mine is also an 05, and yes, the plugs were different, but I don't remember exactly which one was it. Has to be the repeater though, as I soldered the wires indoors then went downstairs and plugged it in.

, So, I need to pull the mirror off. Can I do all the job after that?

Sorry, badly worded! I meant, can I do the rest of the job without major dismantling?
