Hi all! I am new to this site, new to Skoda and new to a car that does over 120mph. So pretty new to all of this and at the fairly elderly 33 years old I have left this all a bit late!

Anyway, just to say 'Hi' and ask some silly questions....like:

Hi Cluster,

Either of the options you have listed will eat into your budget. If your brakes are dead or on the edge of dead I would have to say get them sorted. There is no point going quickly if you can't go tomorrow.

At this point I'd say talk to StarPerformance see what they can do for you.

Not sure a full conversion to BREMBO's is really needed. Having seen a few vRS's pushed to a good limit on track the standard setup is fine with a few minor alterations. These primarily consist of:

Feredo DS2500 pads

Dot4.1 Brake fluid flush

Discs, optionally an uprated disc material, EBC or BlackDiamond.

Then a remap is best bang for your money. There are countless thousands of options and posts on various bits and bobsso have a good old search, but if there is anything thats prooving to be elusive, don't forget to ask.

Also may I suggest to you the recent article center, has a lot of good articles on tuning and the basics, next steps and so on.

Happy browsing.

hi and welcome!

with a grand i would go for a remap such as APR (serial port means that it doesn't need the ECU to be replaced, it's done via the diagnostics port, a laptop and some funky software). i would stretch my budget a little and get a full turbo - back exhaust with sports catalyst if it can be done for your model - do you have an RS?

BIG difference.

my 2 penneth, i'm sure others will have their opinions.

B) I am thinking about adding in some more power (naturally!) and was thinking of APR Serial port tuning (not totally sure what this is but I believe it means replacing the standard ECU) to get the bhp up to 205 and this would cost around

...and just to add, i had the same system. there are plenty of other good tuners but i loved my APR remap with all the options as colin has described.

Hey, thanks all for the feedback!

I don't have an RS, just a standard SLX 20V Turbo (150bhp). But loving it at the moment - spent 6 hours giving the car a major external clean at the weekend and I love it even more now that the bodywork (apart from a number of scratches and chips) is looking superb (thanks to the labour saving 'buffer' I got from the wife as a pressie!)

The car is pretty clean inside but the carpets could do with a scrub (sorry but I am a bit obsessional about having a clean car!) It's done only 26,000 miles and is an X plate so pretty good, but from what I can see (an according to a friend who has a Type R) the car hasn't been looked after all that well (hence the

don't worry, i'll think you'll find a lot of car-cleaning obsessives here! (me included)

there are loads of different tuners but as far as APR are concerned, iirc Starperformance are the only retailers in scotland. could be wrong though.

Welcome Cluster, Funny I was up in Scotland this weekend visiting some friends in Hamilton, Lanarkshire. Top place Scotland
