The "flappy paddles" would be surplus on my 6 speed manual but the controls >might< work and I've always liked the feel of the V wheel hence my question.

Yes it will fit. I have doubts over whether the extra functions will though, although some VAG-COM coding might sort that - key thing will be whether your version of the convenience module can be made to see the extra buttons.

Would a pre-facelift Skoda airbag fit it? I can't quite decide from looking at the pictures.

Someone in Germany made the swap to a R32 wheel. Needed a lot of research though. And you will need some new electronics to have the wheel buttons work.

Airbag isnt compatible, you will have to use the original VW airbag. (and alter the logo).

Already found a lot of information on this board, so why don't share the german info with you guys. We don't have to invent the wheel ourselves again.

I'm at work so can't see eBay or the pictures so can't see the wheel you mention.

I know from experiance that the MK5 Golf steering wheel and Octy vRS airbag are not compatible.

As for the other functions, then assuming you have a suitable steering controller then I think you'd be ok as the Golf and the Octy use the same range of controllers (1K).

Would changing the badge from VW to Skoda on the airbag present any problems?

can anybody translate the German on the document from Magic62?!!

Its looking as if I might give this a go at some point as I really like the Golf wheel - that but "chunkier" than the Skoda one and given that its the primary interface, feel is important!
