About to take the plunge.....some queries

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Before I take the plunge and ordering a new Skoda Octavia estate VRS FL 2.0 petrol in race blue, please can you help by answering the following queries :o

1) Has anyone used Drivethedeal.com to purchase their car and if so what was the experience like? I live in North Lincs and am worried my car will travel half way round the country to get to me - will it be delivered on a transporter? I have spoken with local dealers and they cannot even get close.

2) I am able to get a BMW 320i 2007 M sport estate for the same money with 17k on the clock.....How would you compare the two? Skoda or BMW??? BMW is in immaculate condition.

3) Is the leather worth upgrading for?

The option list would look like this..(i think)

  • Xenons
  • Auto dimming rear view mirror and auto lights
  • Front and rear sensors
  • Heated seats
  • Maxi-dot
  • MDI
  • Metallic paint
  • Silver roof rails
  • Sunset glass
  • Variable floor
  • Black leather (depends on feedback from Forum)

Many thanks in advance - forum is excellent

Had a 1 series M Sport, fantastic car to drive, 3 series M Sport similar if only a little bit clumsier due to size.

Questions you still need to ask are though,

1. How much more spec would you be getting for your money if you went for VRS?

2. How much space do you need, far more in the Octavia VRS Estate?

BMW pro - The badge

Octavia pro - 3 years care free driving under guarantee.

2 very different cars..is the bmw the later 177bhp engine or the 163?

its very hard to compare a front wheel drive petrol car to a rear wheel drive diesel..2 very different experiences

I have driven the 2008 320d in msport guise with the 177bhp engine and its quick,, but its a different kind of speed to my petrol vrs and the driving style isnt for me..and the run flat tyres with the harder msport ssupension made for a jarring ride

it handles superbly though

nice seats in the msport and a high quality cabin, but the radio display gives it a slightly dated look for me ( a bit like the previous model A4)

not much room in the back and a smallish boot with a narrow opening reduces its practicality for me

Front sensors

Why?

The octy has such a short bonnet, if you cant tell where the end is, then you shouldnt be driving IMO.

Most pointless option IMO

and nobody knows about the leather yet as nobody has seen it (though a few of us have ordered it just because we can with the vat free offer!)

pics will be posted no doubt when one of us takes delivery, but until then..who knows

I ordered it just to make the interior different as I have a mk2 now and didnt want to look at the same seats my buttocks had already been sitting in for 3 years!

Also rumoured that you can't have heated seats if you opt for leather

Yep thats what I was told when my dealer phoned Skoda UK, some people on here have apparently managed to get this order, whether their cars turn up with it or not its too early to tell
