I have 2004 fabia vrs which I like very much but there is one problem. The power steering turns off sometimes when i am trying to park in tight spaces, which is off putting. It seems to cure itself by turning ignition off then on.Anyone had similar problems

that sounds strange, i don't know what that could be

Power steering pump and or fluid loss?

Perhaps post in the "ask a tech" section.

I had this. Ended up being a bizarre problem...

The pipework that carried the power steering fluid had come loose of it mountings. Also, the exhaust mounting rubber had stretched. A combination of these 2 meant that the power steering fluid was being boiled, but as the power steering only kicks in under 10mph the problem was only noticed when I was parking up.

Worth a look! Just infront of the cat.

As above or steering angle sensor, or battery on it's last legs. Easy test for a tired battery, check the ABS and ESP lights on a first start after the car has been sitting over night, The two lights will come on when ignition turned on, wait for them to go off, and then start the engine. If they come back on for a few seconds, battery has had it.
