Dashboard storage box??

Featured Replies

I have seen some Fabias with a small lidded storage box beneath the stereo...

Mine has an open "shelf" style cubbyhole....

Can I buy a slot in replacement from Skoda of the lidded version??

Also I am after a cupholder to slot in specifically to the left of my stereo.

I understand the polo part fits here?? Does anybody have part numbers for these bits.

Thanks...

I have an Elegance drawer sat gathering dust in my garage. Was very useful for storing my sat nav safely out of sight until the infamous HU failure incident...

There is a tiny dint on the top-front edge IIRC, but it's yours if you want it!

I had a look on the skodashop website, the Fabia cupholder looks a bit flimsy for nearly £40 worth.

I've read that there is a polo variant that also fits in the same spot. Is it identical or better?? Also, I really would prefer it to go to the left of my stereo. Can it go either side or are they "handed"?

Thanks again APOGEE.

The polo looks sooo much better. Been watching them on ebay and should have purchased the £15 buy it now but didn't

They look like this Polo cup holders image by skinnyman73 on Photobucket

and the above picture is on this site, lol

The Polo cupholder goes under the stereo:

(shamelessly pinched from another forum! :o )

I do, however, also have a low-tech non-UK cupholder, which goes where the ashtray is. It's kind of like this, but only for one can:

It's very good for 330ml cans, but won't hold a travel mug or a Red Bull can. Let me know by PM if you want that too...

I have 2 mugs for tea and one is a really tight fit for the rear cup holder or the other has a handle that I can put on the door handle but I bang my leg :( I need to try and contact some VW breakers to see if I can get the polo ones as they look really nice and looking at the pic would still leave enough room to put the phone in the hole :D

If your phone isn't too wide or too deep, it'll fit - up to about 45mmW x 22mmD is the limit. So no iPhones, then! :woohoo:

It's where I put mine when I'm on the hands-free!

why wont the iphone fit???

To be honest if its not in my pocket the iphone fits great in the cubby hole to the left of the wheel and syncs brilliantly with my Alpine HU

why wont the iphone fit???

...because the shelf above the cupholders only goes back about 45mm, like I say. It doesn't go all the way back because of the cupholder mechanism...

ah, totally misread your post. Wonder why it sounded so shallow, cheers for that

Does anybody know what the part number for the polo cupholder is?

I've done a search but can't find a thread with a part number in, so any help would be great:thumbup:

ap0gee, is the Elegance under sterio draw still up for grabs, or has it been claimed?

Google Vagcat and sign up and you can obtain the correct part number!

Thanks to MikeSM56 for letting me know of tthis useful site.

No, it's been taken I'm afraid. I've offered grr666 first refusal on the low-tech cupholder (if anyone else is interested), but haven't had any response as yet...

Thanks for the offer APOGEE, I will give the low tech cup holder a miss mate. I use my ashtray for my mp3 player and will splash out on the official cupholder from skoda since I've saved a bit on the draw. Paid £10 into the breast cancer fund at work for that other bit of business we discussed earlier.

I thought the under seat storage boxes were very reasonably priced though, will be ordering three of those on Thursday when I get paid. And before you ask...

1 is for my VRS drivers side. The other two will be for Mrs Grrs SDI.

No doubt they will end up chock full of make up and junk like that, but hey... That's Mrs Grr.:D:D:D

ap0gee, no worries mate. as for the low tech cup holder, already have one of these, but again thanks for the offer.
