Location of Various Bits

This may seem silly ( and it could well be ) but would it be possible if the location of various parts ( that are often mentioned in posts) in both vRS models be located on a drawing/photo etc and if needed how to get into that part. Some examples :-

diagnostic port - location / does have a cover ?

ECU - location / easy / safe to remove ?

air filter - location / how many screws to remove etc ?

I could carry on , but you get the idea.

Would this be any use to new members ?

On the Octavia:

  • The air filter is at bottom right of Denis's picture under where it says MAF.
  • The ECU is under the scuttle panel in the centre between the two wiper spindles.
  • The diagnostic port is at the back of the little cubby hole to the right of the steering wheel and yes it has a cover on but the dealers usually take it off and leave it rattling about on the shelf.

On Fabia:

- diagnostic port is behind the drinks can chiller (to the right on the steering wheel). To get to it, open the can chiller, then apply some gentle downward pressure on the front until it unclips. If you look where it was, you should see a purple female socket with 16 pins.

- air box is located on the right hand side of the engine bay and is the black box towards the back of the engine bay. I think there are two Torx screws holding it in place and then it unclips and the panel filter sits inside it.

Sure someone has some pics .... queue Colin or Ross ;)
