Octavia 16" Crateris Wheels

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have just ordered an octavia 1.4tsi elegance, but decided against getting the steel spare wheel.

is there any place that you can buy the crateris alloys that come with the car as a spare? obviously i could go to the dealer, but am not looking to pay too much for it!

alternatively, does anyone know where to buy cheap steel spare wheels?

cheers

not sure about the Alloy, but for £50 you'll be hard pressed to get a steel of the right size/hole config with a tyre fitted and balanced etc.

Personally I'd buy the optional steel and if I found an alloy to match, then swap over.

EDIT:

Just looked in the accessories brochure and the Crateris isn't listed yet, but it looks to be around £130

thanks - your right about finding a steel spare wheel for £50 - thats a tall order.

Is it possible to use an audi/vw alloy on the skoda? as long it is the same size and a 6,5J?

You could post in the Wanted section. It doesn't need to be a skoda one. Any 6.5J 16" wheel of a fairly sensible offset will do fine. I put a post in wanted and managed to get 3 x Elegance 16" alloys in perfect condition including good tyres for £165 plus another of the same type, slightly marked and without a tyre for free.

You should think carefully regarding the steel spare wheel. My dealer said that whereas as a factory fitted option it is £50, if you subsequently buy it as a dealer fitted option it is £150. For the sake of £50 I'd order it with the car and look round for a cheap alloy after.

I know that this will sound daft but if you order the Sports Suspension upgrade & 17" Pallas wheels and ordered the full size steel you'd get what?

The 17" or 16"?

If it's the 17" steel spare then what's the code for it please?

(Sorry for daft question been up since 0300hrs this morning & brain is kaput!) :rotz:

The Crateris is a 6.5J X16" with 205/55 tyres which I believe to be the maximum tyre width to fit the boot well correctly. Your 17" upgrade would be 7J x 17" with 225/45 tyres which would probably be too wide for the carpeted floor to close completely flat above the wheel - I think??

A space saver would be my guess unless you stick with standard 16".

Mmm, I think I'll give the garage a ring to check, before buying.

hmm may call the dealer back and get the spare wheel added.

does anyone know if you still get the normal wheel changing tool kit (jack etc) if you dont order the spare wheel? I presume you still get the kit, but no wheel.

You'll only get the gunk if you don't order the spare.

If you want the jack, wrench and the mould for the spare wheel, you'll need to order the spare wheel. That's why it's 150 as a dealer fit.

Would a 16" Steel Spare from a 2005 non-FL be compatible with a FL Octy?
