Insurance on the up?

Featured Replies

I've got a standard Fabia VRS, am almost 28 with 6 years no claims and it seems like the prices have went up this year. The only thing that's changing is an increase in No Claims but Directline want an extra £50 to insure me and just done a search via Swinton and they aren't even close...

I'm looking at approx £550 for a years insurance.. WTF?

Is this a industry wide trend?

Chris.

It's the usual..just got my renewal through (direct line), gone up £90 !! checked the price comparison sites (bit of a prob with a dsg vrs!!), but got it £95 cheaper !!:D:thumbup:

LOL, I was 650 with 0 NCB 21 years old with swiftcover, you got 9 points or something?

Nah, 0 points.. think i need to shop around.. either that or my postcode has turned into the Beirut of car crime.

Forgot to mention that it's with £0 Excess though..

redo the quote online, they have an offer on at the moment

for me, £550 would be really cheap though, im 27 with 5yrs NCB, 3 points, 1 accident @ fault, paying £800 (inc interest for monthly payments)

mine went up 50 quid too,so when i rang i ran some online quote too at the same time and reeled off the cheapest ones,i also said i would go with one of the cheaper quotes if they couldn't do any better,5 minuts later its 10 quid cheaper than any of my online quotes, just shop around 9 times out of 10 they will match or beat a competitor

I'm looking at £526 for an Octy vRS with £350 excess for a 40 yr old including courtesy car, windscreen and audio cover, with protected ncb. Just spent the morning doing the rounds with the meerkats and all the others, but nobody comes close to my existing provider.

defo ask if they can match, Flux came down a LOT for me this year to match other people

My renewal quote was about £460 this year , despite changing from a PD140 octavia to the Bravo which is several insurance groups lower.

I've not gone back to my original insurers yet , but a friendly meerkat has found me a quote for £360.

Cheers for the posts people!

Looks like my postcode is an E* which is probably a little bit worse than i expected. Nevermind..

I'll put some real effort in this week, although rightly or wrongly i expected Direct Line to maybe drop it without any encouragement.. probably naive of me really.

Also gonna try Chris Knot etc. this time around.

I'd been with direct line for over 10 years when they put my premium up by over £100 - when I phoned to speak to them about it they wouldn't even discuss it - they just said "take it or leave it"

DL quote me nearly £700. I didn't take it surprisingly. Tesco were a similar figure but Hastings did the business again.

Direct Line wouldnt negotiate with me last year on renewal either. 200 quid cheaper for me elsewhere, so I left pronto!

My son went online and got 2 quotes, identical details apart from -

1 with him as the only named driver and the other adding his girlfriend as a named driver.

The 2nd quote was cheaper, yet she hadn't even passed her test

Insurance - legalised daylight robbery. Think of a number time..................

90% of them couldn't justify the quotes if they tried.
