Before I break something else on my car, how does the gear gaitor come off?

Do you just pull it off from the bottom? (around the rim)

Or anre there hidden clips somewhere?

If i remember correctly its actually physically attatched to the gear knob so you would need to remove it as one unit

It is on a Fabia, for sure. The gaitor unclips at its base if you pull, then lift it up- there's a clip you have to cut off the gearknob.

Work the gaiter from around the plastic at the bottom (it is just stretched over) and then undo the clamp under the gear-knob, to which it is fixed.
