Tomtom Go DOES support the speed camera database: you need to download the latest software from the Tomtom website. It also has its own warning system for POIs' date=' that allows you to choose from a range of warning sounds. It actually works really well: it's arguably better than Tomtom 3 on a PDA, with checkPOInt.

I'm not sure if Go allows a link to the traffic information, but tomtom 3 certainly does now, if you've got a Bluetooth phone.[/quote']

Not found them, will have to have another look, well impressed if it does. Have Ver 4.40 of the S/W and noticed you can apply count down warning to POI and add your own, so started adding customer & work locations, didn't notice the Speed Camera stuff. Is it built into 4.40 or is it another download.

BTW only had my Tomtom Go for a month, if you can't tell. Must RTFM ;)

How do you find the TomTom GO? I'm planing on buying one next month (as long as the dentist doesn't sting me too much for 3  fillings in two weeks time :thumbdwn: ), and haven't actually heard direct from someone who owns one.

Is it audbile at speeds? Clear? If I ignored it's directions and took a short cut, would it re-route or insist on taking me back to it's own route? It's first test would be getting me to the whiskey society in edinburgh, so knwing speed trap locations and poi's would be nice.

Let us know how you get on and what life is like with the unit in general (like arethe claimed battery life hours fairly ok? you know)

Road Angel

Intelligent Intercooler water mister control box

AA Roadmap

Maglite

Golf clubs

Golf shoes

Spare bulbs

Tow rope

Laptop

Remote for opening gates at work

That's it!

I find it very good, there are multiple voices to select and on full volume are more than load enough, even with the Radio on, if you go off route it re routes you automatically to the next available so taking a short cut isn't a problem. Battery life I have never ran them out yet even on a 2 Hour Journey, with Screen on constantly. But you can wire to the Cigarette Lighter Adapter.

The unit is pretty solid and robust, screen is bright and clear in all conditions, although it could do with a stylus to save you marking the screen with your fingers. Personally I use a pen with a rounded top to tap the screen.

Only comes with a 128MB SD Card so even to add the update to laterst S/W ver 4.40 you have to delete some stuff. But having said that there are loads of voice files in dozens of languages to delete.

Only one flaw I have found to date is if you have Polarisied SunGlasses for some reasons the Screen Goes Completely Blank when viewed through them. So don't know what the screen is made from because I don't have that problem with my iPAQ, Laptop, Mobile, or other Electronic Dash Displays.

As for the speed camera bit, can't find it anywhere with my Tomtom Go with Ver 4.40 S/W, I can maintain, add, view differnet POI even enable warnings on approach to them but there is no Speed Camera Category. So maybe it's a seperate piece of S/W you download and add as a POI, not sure

Not problem, got a 256Mb one sitting around doing naff all.

But the sunglasses...........booger. Guess what i've just had put in my Oakley's......... :(

Have a look at this link:

I can assure you that it DOES work: our Go now alerts us whenever we're near a camera.

I can't recommend Tomtom GO enough: we've also got Tomtom 3 on a PDA, and Go is far clearer, and the software is much neater. At the price, it's unbeatable (under

Same here mate, have a pair of Oakley X Metals with Polarisied Lenses. Was playing with the unit in the house to setup basic options then went out to the Car to take it for a run. Turned the unit on and a blank screen, nothing just the power light  scratched head for a bit, turned off and on a few times, thought I'd broke it or it'd died at first. Then sussed out it was the shades

Oh well at least it stops me watching it constantly when driving.

It also displays current speed, distance to go, and estimated time of arrival which is very accurate and well useful especially when on the road meeting clients.

Polarised glass is a funny thing! Just out of interest, if you were to turn your glasses through 90 degrees, you'd be able to see the screen again, but that makes them hard to wear!

I don't have this problem: I guess my glasses must polarise in the same plane as the screen.

Thankfully, I'm also eyeing up a pair of either Wire-Taps or Half-Jacket FMj's, but they'll be standard lenses to get round this problem.......

Coure, if I'm following the audio, shouldn't need to see the screen.....
